Diables Barcelona
The Diables Barcelona are a professional rugby franchise from the city of Barcelona that was born in 2021 to compete in an international franchise league. The Diables made their first appearance in November 2021 to play in the Toyota Challenge tournament at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The franchise aspires to participate in a new international competition that is being created and already has a place guaranteed. This new competition will mainly involve teams from southern Africa and Europe. Some of the franchises have already announced their willingness to participate, such as the Cheetahs or Kuva Blue thunder of Zimbabwe. Toyota Challenge
The Toyota Challenge is a rugby union competition hosted in South Africa by the Cheetahs, a team sponsored by Toyota SA. The first tournament took place at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein between 13 November and 26 November 2021. In 2021, four teams played against the Cheetahs across four matches, with a 250,000 rand prize money for each match. In addition, players were rewarded for "positive play actions" during the games, while fans were rewarded for supporting their favourite teams in the stadium and online on various social media platforms. The Cheetahs (known for sponsorship reasons as the Toyota Cheetahs), is a South African professional rugby union team that played Super Rugby between 2006 and 2017, before joining the Pro14 (Now United Rugby Championship) competition prior to the 2017–18 season.
