Kurukshetra University
Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (KUK) is a university established on 11January 1956 in Kurukshetra, in the Indian state of Haryana, from the capital, Delhi. It is a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities. History The university was in 1956 as a unitary residential University. The Department of Sanskrit was the first and the only department in the university when it was inaugurated by Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of the Indian Republic. The idea of establishing university was conceived by then governor of Punjab, Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh, a Sanskrit scholar. Haryana Rural Antique Museum
The Dr. Mangal Sain Museum (earlier, Haryana Rural Antique Museum) in Hisar, Haryana, India is located inside the ''Gandhi Bhawan'' building of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. History The museum construction started in 1975 1975Kurukshetra vol. 24, pp. 206. and was completed around 1978,1978Haryana Review Haryana Public Relations Department, vol. 12, pp.163. to preserve the vanishing antiques of rural Haryana.1987Haryana District Gazetteers: Hisar Haryana, pp.225.] The museum was extended with additional space in 2010. Reconstruction The reconstruction of the museum started in 2018 and was projected to finish by 2019 but completed in 2021. Rewari Railway Heritage Museum
The Rewari Railway Heritage Museum (formerly the Rewari Steam Locomotive Shed) is a c.1893 railway museum in Delhi NCR at Rewari city in Haryana, India. Built in 1893, it is the only surviving steam locomotive shed in India, and houses some of India's last surviving steam locomotives as well as the world's oldest still-functional 1855-built steam locomotive the Fairy Queen. It is located north of the entrance of the Rewari railway station, from Gurgaon and from the National Rail Museum at Chanakyapuri in New Delhi. History Steam locomotive shed Built in 1893, the Rewari Steam Locomotive Shed was the only locomotive shed in North India for many years, and part of the railroad track connecting Delhi with Peshawar. Sheikh Chilli's Tomb
Sheikh Chilli's Tomb is complex of structures located in Thanesar, in the Kurukshetra district of Haryana, India. It includes two tombs, a madrasa, Mughal gardens and various subsequent features. Description The main tomb belongs to Sufi Abd-ur-Rahim Abdul-Karim Abd-ur-Razak, popularly known by the name of Sheikh Chilli. He was Qadiriyya Sufi master of Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh. The architectural plan of the tomb shows considerable Persian influence. There is another tomb in the complex, believed to be of Sheikh Chilli's wife. This beautiful tomb and attached Madrasa are associated with the Sufi Saint Abd-ur-Rahim. There is a mosque called Pather Masjid (Stone Mosque) that was built in red sandstone. On the north side are the Mughal Gardens. The ceiling of the mosque, resting on pillars is decorated with floral designs carved in low relief. Sehikhpura Kothi, currently leased and operated as WelcomHeritage Sheikhpura Kothi, is a heritage building. It was built in 1924 by American architect Dinkelberg for the family of Sir Chhaju Ram Lamba the Jat Zamindar and businessman from Alakhpura, and later leased it to WelcomHeritage Hotels for its current operation as a heritage hotel. Kurukshetra (, ) is a city and administrative headquarter of Kurukshetra district in the Indian state of Haryana. ''Hitopadesha'' (Sanskrit: हितोपदेशः, IAST: ''Hitopadeśa'', "Beneficial Advice") is an Indian text in the Sanskrit language consisting of fables with both animal and human characters. It incorporates maxims, worldly wisdom and advice on political affairs in simple, elegant language, and the work has been widely translated. Little is known about its origin.
