Dhaka Metro Rail
Dhaka Metro Rail ( bn, ঢাকা মেট্রোরেল), colloquially known as the Dhaka Metro ( bn, ঢাকা মেট্রো) is a mass rapid transit (MRT) system serving Dhaka, Bangladesh. Together with the city's planned subway system, it is expected to reduce congestion in the capital. It is a part of the 20-year long Strategic Transport Plan (STP) outlined by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA). The first phase of Dhaka Metro's MRT Line 6 commenced commercial operations on 28 December 2022, after being inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The construction of MRT Line 6's second phase is scheduled to be completed by 2023. The network is planned to contain six lines. Agargaon (, ''romanised: Agargao'') is a metro station of the Dhaka Metro's MRT Line 6. It is located in Agargaon, and was opened on 29 December 2022. History The Agargaon Metro Station was constructed under "Package CP-03". The notification of application for construction of raised bridges for stations and railways was published on 30 June 2015 and the last date for submission of applications was 9 September 2015. Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited gets work contract for "Package CP-03". The agreement document was sent to the ministry on 29 March 2016 for NBR investigation and law and parliamentary investigation. The signing ceremony for the agreement package was held on 3 May 2017 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. Construction work started on 2 August 2017. Uttara Model Town or simply Uttara ( bn, উত্তরা) is a suburb of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The name derives from the Bengali word ''uttar'' meaning "north". It lies on the road to Gazipur, and adjoins Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. History Planning In 1966, Dhaka Improvement Trust planned to build a satellite town under ''North Satellite Town project'' in Dhaka District. In 1980, DIT changed the project name into ''Uttara Residential Model Town Project''. First phase RAJUK completed the first phase of the project in 1992. In this phase Uttara had 6,000 plots.
