''Dex'' is a side-scrolling action role-playing game developed and published by Dreadlocks Ltd. The game was crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and was released in 2015. Gameplay Dex is a 2D side-scrolling platform game focused on exploration and non-linear gameplay, more like a Role-playing game. The player controls the eponymous character, Dex, and receives quests from NPCs. Every quest has multiple possible solutions and it is up to player which of them to choose. The player receives experience points for every quest completed or enemy killed. Experience points grant skill points that can be invested into the character's skills. Dreadlocks Ltd is a Czech video game developer based in Prague. The company's first game, ''Rune Legend'', was the winner of the 5th AppParade. The company was officially formed in 2011. The company's most recent release is '' Dex'', an action role-playing game. History Dreadlocks was established in 2011 by a group of students from Czech Technical University in Prague. The idea of forming a studio was based on a game engine created by them for their bachelor work. Their first project was ''Rune Legend'', a mobile game that was released in 2012. The studio then focused on creating a game titled ''Enlightened'', but its development was suspended when the company acquired a team that worked on the video game '' Dex'', which was successfully funded through Kickstarter and released in May 2015. Czech Game of the Year Awards ( cs, Česká hra roku) are annual awards that recognize accomplishments in video game development in the Czech Republic. The awards began as part of Gameday Festival in 2010, but became independent from the festival in 2017. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The Game Developers Session (GDS) is an annual Czech conference on video game development. It is the oldest conference dedicated to game development, technologies, businesses, and marketing in Central Europe. Experience Points
An experience point (often abbreviated as exp or XP) is a unit of measurement used in some tabletop role-playing games (RPGs) and role-playing video games to quantify a player character's life experience and progression through the game. Experience points are generally awarded for the completion of missions, overcoming obstacles and opponents, and successful role-playing. In many RPGs, characters start as fairly weak and untrained.
