Deptford Green School
Deptford Green School is a coeducational comprehensive secondary school in Deptford, Lewisham, England with approximately 1100 pupils. Deptford Green also has specialisms in Humanities, with English, Citizenship and Drama as flagship subjects. The school was also part of the former Crossways Federation, being one of four feeder schools to Crossways Sixth Form, along with Addey and Stanhope School, Catford Business and Enterprise College and Crofton School. In January 2012 Bill Gates visited the school as part of the speakers for schools project. He stated that "Deptford Green is a model of a global school with socially conscious students." Fordham Park
Fordham Park is a public park in New Cross, London, England, owned and managed by the London Borough of Lewisham. It lies in between New Cross and New Cross Gate railway stations, and just north of the A2 road between London and Dover. It is immediately south to Deptford Green School, and is often used by students as a sports area. The park in New Cross was regenerated in 2010 with new lighting, trees, furniture and play elements being added to the park. The park contains a public memorial plaque and bench dedicated to the victims of the New Cross house fire of 1981; the memorials were installed in 2012. Deptford
Deptford is an area on the south bank of the River Thames in southeast London, within the London Borough of Lewisham. It is named after a ford of the River Ravensbourne. From the mid 16th century to the late 19th it was home to Deptford Dockyard, the first of the Royal Dockyards. This was a major shipbuilding dock and attracted Peter the Great to come and study shipbuilding. Lewisham () is an area of southeast London, England, south of Charing Cross. Addey and Stanhope School is a voluntary-aided, co-educational secondary school, located in Lewisham, London, England. It is a former grammar school and sixth form, with origins dating to 1606. The headmistress is currently Jan Shapiro. History The Addey School The School's origins date to 1606 when John Addey (1550–1606), Master shipwright at Deptford Dockyard, having made his fortune in shipbuilding, left £200 to help the poor of Deptford; this money was then invested in land and the rent from that land was to be given away as charity. This amounted to 40 shillings each, per annum given to 100 parishioners of Deptford.
