The Department of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong, was founded in 1957 as part of New Asia College. History The department was founded in 1957 within New Asia College. It initially offered a two-year study programme. One of the founding professors was Chen Shih Wen, who trained at several art schools in France and had previously taught in Shanghai. The two-year fine arts training programme was expanded to a four-year programme in 1959. Students were required to take courses in Chinese history and literature, as the curriculum emphasized the close relationship between these subjects and Chinese art. In 1963, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) was founded, consisting of three existing Chinese-language post-secondary colleges, namely: New Asia College, United College, and Chung Chi College. Luke Ching Chin Wai
Luke Ching Chin Wai (; born 1972) is a conceptual artist and labour activist from Hong Kong. His artistic practice twists the role of the artist and observer and has created works which, with a mix of humour, respond to the cultural and political collisions in Hong Kong. He studied at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and graduated with an MA in Fine Art in 1998. He has participated in exhibitions and residencies worldwide. Chan Yuk Keung
Chan Yuk Keung (also known as Kurt) (陳育強) (1959-) is a Hong Kong artist. Chan Yuk Keung was born in 1959. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1983. Later, he completed his Master of Fine Art in painting at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan, United States. Chan started teaching in the Department of Fine Arts at Chinese University, lecturing on Western media design. He was the course leader of the Master of Fine Arts program there. Au Hoi Lam
Au Hoi Lam (; born 1978 in Hong Kong) is a Chinese painter. She has won several awards including the Nokia Arts Awards (2000) and the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2013 – Award for Young Artist (Visual Arts). Zunzi
Wong Kei-kwan (, born 1955), better known by his pen name Zunzi (), is a political cartoonist living in Hong Kong. Zunzi has been called "the territory's most prominent political cartoonist"; he has depicted Jiang Zemin, Liu Xiaobo and Xi Jinping. Clarisse Yeung Suet-ying (; born 14 November 1986) is a Hong Kong politician. She is a former chairwoman of the Wan Chai District Council, representing Tai Hang. Wong Xiang Yi
Wong Xiang Yi is an artist from Malaysia, born in 1987. She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), finishing her bachelor's degree of art in the Fine Arts Department in 2010. Sara Tse
Sara Tse (Tse Suk Ting, ; born 1974) is a Hong Kong visual artist. She uses porcelain as her medium of expression.
