Dennis Pineda
Dennis "Delta" Garcia Pineda (born May 6, 1974) is a Filipino politician, basketball head coach and businessman from the province of Pampanga in the Philippines. He currently serves as the Governor of Pampanga. He was a former Vice Governor of the province in the past years, and he was elected in 2019 as the 33rd Governor of the province. Previously, he served as the mayor of Lubao from 2001 until 2010. Coaching career In sport, he is also the head coach of various Pampanga-based basketball teams, most notably, the Pampanga Giant Lanterns of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. In 2023, he brought the Giant Lanterns to their first MPBL Finals appearance, and later, their first MPBL championship. The Pilipinas Super League (PSL) is a professional basketball league in the Philippines. History The Pilipinas Super League (PSL) was founded in December 2021 by former officials of another league; the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup. It was established by former VisMin Cup CEO Rocky Chan and former COO Chelito Caro. Chan assumed the post of PSL President and Caro as the league commissioner. The 2023 MPBL season is the ongoing fifth season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and the second as a professional league. The regular season began on March 11, 2023 and will end on September 30, 2023. The playoffs are set to begin in October 2023. The league took two breaks during the regular season, during Holy Week and during the Philippines' co-hosting of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
