Deep Purple Tribute
''Deep Purple Tribute'' is the second live album by Serbian hard rock band Cactus Jack, recorded as a tribute album to British hard rock band Deep Purple and released in 2003. The album was released on two discs featuring 12 covers of Deep Purple songs. The album was recorded on Cactus Jack concert held on 22 November 2002 in Coupe club in their hometown Pančevo. ''Deep Purple Tribute'' was the band's first album to feature keyboardist Zoran Samuilov. The opening track, " Highway Star", features rock musician and radio host Vladimir Janković "Džet" announcing the band. Janković also appears on vocals on the track " Black Night". Dragoljub "Paja" Bogdanović—who appeared as a guest on the band's debut album, ''Discover'', and would become the band's frontman in 2015—appears on vocals on the track "Strange Kind of Woman". Cactus Jack (band)
Cactus Jack is a Serbian rock band formed in Pančevo in 1998. Led by guitarist Stevan Birak and fronted by vocalist Vladimir Jezdimirović, the group started as a cover band. Cactus Jack's debut release was the live cover album ''DisCover'' (2002), followed by the live tribute album '' Deep Purple Tribute'' (2003). The band presented themselves with traditional hard rock sound, the releases bringing them attention of the audience and the media. The band released their first album of their own songs, entitled '' Natur all'', in 2004, followed by the album '' Mainscream'' (2005). In the years following the release of their second studio album, the band failed to maintain mainstream popularity and returned to club performances with female vocalist Bojana Racić, including a number of funk and pop rock covers into their repertoire. Ritchie Blackmore
Richard Hugh Blackmore (born 14 April 1945) is an English guitarist and songwriter. He was a founding member of Deep Purple in 1968, playing jam-style hard rock music that mixed guitar riffs and organ sounds. He is prolific in creating guitar riffs and classically influenced solos. During his solo career, Blackmore established the hard rock band Rainbow, which fused baroque music influences and elements of hard rock. Rainbow steadily moved to catchy pop-style mainstream rock. He later formed the traditional folk rock project Blackmore's Night along with his current wife Candice Night, shifting to vocalist-centred sounds. As a member of Deep Purple, Blackmore was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2016. It was released on Burn (Deep Purple album), the album of the same name in 1974, and was the first single by the Mark III lineup. "Space Truckin'" is a song by British hard rock band Deep Purple. It is the seventh and final track on the ''Machine Head'' album and its lyrics talk of space travel. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore claims in '' Classic Albums: Deep Purple – The Making of Machine Head'' that the song composition started with the half-step riffs in the refrain, which were inspired by the theme music for the '' Batman'' TV programme composed by Neal Hefti. Blackmore asked singer Ian Gillan if he could write any lyrics over the riff, and the rest of the song evolved from there. "Knocking at Your Back Door" is a song by the English hard rock band Deep Purple, the first track of the album '' Perfect Strangers'', which was released in October 1984. The song was written by Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. The track received heavy airplay at the time, playing on heavy rotation. "Mistreated" is a song by the British rock band Deep Purple taken from their 1974 album ''Burn''. The song was written by the band's guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and new vocalist David Coverdale, who, along with new bassist Glenn Hughes, brought new blues and funk elements to the band. History At live performances Hughes would introduce "Mistreated" as a song that Blackmore had written about two years prior to ''Burn''. David Coverdale
David Coverdale (born 22 September 1951) is an English singer who is best known as the lead vocalist of Whitesnake, a hard rock band he founded in 1978. Before Whitesnake, Coverdale was the lead singer of Deep Purple from 1973 to 1976, after which he established his solo career. A collaboration with ex-Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page resulted in a '"Coverdale-Page'" studio album in 1993 that was subsequently certified platinum. ''Stormbringer'' is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, released in November 1974 and the second studio album to feature the Mk III lineup including vocalist David Coverdale and bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes. Album cover and title The cover image of ''Stormbringer'' is based on a photo. On 8 July 1927 a tornado near the town of Jasper, Minnesota was photographed by Lucille Handberg. "Child in Time" is a song by English rock band Deep Purple, taken from their fourth studio album, ''Deep Purple in Rock'', released in 1970. The track is loosely inspired by the Cold War and runs over ten minutes. History and characteristics Deep Purple's Ian Gillan has said that the organ riff in "Child in Time" is based on It's a Beautiful Day's psychedelic song "Bombay Calling". It's a Beautiful Day in return borrowed Purple's " Wring That Neck" and turned it into "Don and Dewey" on their second album '' Marrying Maiden'' (1970). ''Deep Purple in Rock'' is the fourth studio album by Deep Purple, released on 5 June 1970. It was the first studio album recorded by the Mark II line-up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice. Ian Paice
Ian Anderson Paice (born 29 June 1948) is an English musician, best known as the drummer and last remaining original member of the rock band Deep Purple. He is often cited as one of the greatest drummers of all-time. He remains the only member of Deep Purple who has served in every line-up since the band’s inception in 1968, as well as having played on every album and at every live appearance.
