Debbarma
Debbarma is the main clan of Tripuri community, predominantly in state of Tripura, India and Bangladesh who speak Kokborok, a Tibeto-Burman language.They belong to the Kshatriya Varna. Variations The variations of "Debbarma" consist of Debbarma'', ''Deb Barma, DebBarma, Dev Barma, Dev Varma, Deb Burman, Dev Burman, Debbarman, Dev Barman, Dev Varman and Devvarman. Classifications Although Debbarmas speak Kokborok, some differences in their accents can be found if observed carefully. The way they speak it varies in tones and words too. Tripuri People
The Tripuri (also known as Tripura, Tipra, Tiprasa, Twipra) are an ethnic group originating in the Indian state of Tripura. They are the inhabitants of the Twipra/Tripura Kingdom in North-East India and Bangladesh. The Tripuri people through the Manikya dynasty ruled the Kingdom of Tripura for many years until the kingdom joined the Indian Union on 15 October 1949. Atul Debbarma
Atul Debbarma (born 8 January 1965) is an Indian doctor-turned-politician and author. He was a practicing doctor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi until December 2017. He became involved with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its different wings such as Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and Vivekananda International Foundation in 2007. He won the Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 as the BJP candidate from Krishnapur constituency. Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarma
Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma Bahadur (19 August 1908 – 17 May 1947) was a king (or M''aharaja'') of Tripura State. He was succeeded by his son, Maharaja Kirit Bikram Kishore Deb Barman, who was the nominal king for two years till the state's merger into India in 1949. Since he was a minor during this time, the state was governed by a Council of Regency headed by his mother. Kirit Pradyot Deb Barman
Kirit Pradyot Manikya Deb Barman Bahadur is the current head of the Tripuri royal family and is the titular king. He was born in New Delhi, and now resides in Agartala, Tripura. He also served as the editor of TNT-The Northeast Today. He is the current chairman of The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance also known as TIPRA Motha. Dasarath Deb
Dasarth Debbarma (2 February 1916 – 14 October 1998) was an Indian Communist politician in the Indian state of Tripura. He was chief minister of Tripura from 1993 to 1998. He was a leader of the Ganamukti Parishad (Tripura State Indigenous People's Liberation Council) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was also the vice-president of All India Kisan Sabha and first and yet only Tiprasa chief minister of Tripura. Tanushree Deb Barma
Tanushree Debbarma is the first woman Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in Tripura, India. She was the first woman from Tripura to pass the IAS exam. She secured fourth place in the civil service examination in the ST category in 2006. She studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and received an offer from a multi-national IT firm but turned it down to prepare for the Civil Services Examination IAS exam. Debbarma was in the Government of Karnataka until 2020 as the Director of Tribal Welfare with additional roles of Director of Elementary Education and State Project Director, National Education Mission (Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan). Harinath Debbarma
Harinath Debbarma (born 30 June 1933) is a Tipra-Indian politician, activist and statesman from Tripura. Harinath Debbarma founded the Tripura Upajati Juba Samiti (TUJS) in 1967 along with Shyama Charan Tripura. Later he founded the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura in 1997. Harinath Debbarma was also a Member of Legislative Assembly from the Charilam constituency in Tripura and the former CEM of TTAADC (1990). Kings Of Tripura
The Manikya dynasty was the ruling house of the Twipra Kingdom and later the princely Tripura State, what is now the Indian state of Tripura. Ruling since the early 15th century, the dynasty at its height controlled a large swathe of the north-east of the Indian subcontinent.
