Dear Dad
"Dear Dad" was the 12th episode of the first season of the TV series ''M*A*S*H (TV series), M*A*S*H''. It originally aired on December 17, 1972 and was repeated on May 20, 1973. Plot Hawkeye Pierce, Hawkeye writes home to his father during the Christmas season, relating a number of amusing and personal anecdotes including Radar O'Reilly, Radar's effort to mail home a jeep piece-by-piece, the monthly morality lecture, Trapper's local medical philanthropy, and the ongoing non-secret relationship between Frank Burns (M*A*S*H character), Frank and Margaret Houlihan, Hot Lips. Hawkeye dresses to play Santa Claus for the local children, but is required to go to the front line via helicopter to treat an emergency, which he does in-costume. ''M*A*S*H'' (an acronym for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) is an American war comedy-drama television series that aired on CBS from September 17, 1972 to February 28, 1983. It was developed by Larry Gelbart as the first original spin-off series adapted from the 1970 feature film ''M*A*S*H'', which, in turn, was based on Richard Hooker's 1968 novel '' MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors''. Larry Gelbart
Larry Simon Gelbart (February 25, 1928 – September 11, 2009) was an American television writer, playwright, screenwriter, director and author, most famous as a creator and producer of the television series ''M*A*S*H'', and as co-writer of the Broadway musicals ''A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'' and '' City of Angels''. Biography Early life Gelbart was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Jewish immigrants Harry Gelbart, "a barber since his half of a childhood in Latvia," and Frieda Sturner, who migrated to America from Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland. Marcia Gelbart Walkenstein was his sister. His family later moved to Los Angeles and he attended Fairfax High School. Eugene Reynolds Blumenthal (April 4, 1923 – February 3, 2020) was an American screenwriter, director, producer, and actor. He was one of the developers and producers of the TV series ''M*A*S*H''. Early life Reynolds was born on April 4, 1923, to Frank Eugene Blumenthal, a businessman and entrepreneur, and Maude Evelyn (Schwab) Blumenthal, a model, in Cleveland, Ohio. Reynolds initially was raised in Detroit, before the family relocated to Los Angeles in 1934. Reynolds served in the United States Navy during World War II. "Edwina" was the 13th episode of the first season of the TV series ''M*A*S*H''. It originally aired on December 24, 1972. It was written by Hal Dresner, directed by James Sheldon and guest starred Arlene Golonka in the title role. Plot Edwina "Eddie" Ferguson, an attractive but clumsy nurse, who often accidentally injures potential suitors, cannot find romance at the 4077th—or anywhere else, for that matter, as she confides to Margie Cutler. The other nurses at the Double Natural discuss her problem and agree to put their romantic relationships with the doctors and corpsmen on hold until someone agrees to date Eddie. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode.
