Sir David Wilkie (18 November 1785 – 1 June 1841) was a Scottish painter, especially known for his genre scenes. He painted successfully in a wide variety of genres, including historical scenes, portraits, including formal royal ones, and scenes from his travels to Europe and the Middle East. His main base was in London, but he died and was buried at sea, off Gibraltar, returning from his first trip to the Middle East. He was sometimes known as the "people's painter". He was Principal Painter in Ordinary to King William IV of the United Kingdom, William IV and Queen Victoria. Sir David Percival Dalbreck Wilkie, (5 November 1882 – 28 August 1938), known to friends and colleagues as DPD, was among the first of the new breed of professors of surgery appointed at a relatively young age to develop surgical research and undergraduate teaching. At the University of Edinburgh, he established a surgical research laboratory from which was to emerge a cohort of young surgical researchers destined to become the largest dynasty of surgical professors yet seen in the British Isles. David Wilkie (footballer)
David James Wilkie (27 June 1914 – 9 August 2011) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). After gaining attention as a 17 year old player by kicking 80 goals with Bacchus Marsh in 1932 in the Geelong & District Football League, Wilkie trialled with Melbourne at the start of the 1933 VFL season. Despite scoring 30 goals in four practice games, he moved to Melton in June that year without playing a senior game. Later that same season he moved again, this time to Castlemaine. Wilkie joined Essendon at the start of the 1934 season, scoring three goals in his only senior appearance, as Essendon were defeated heavily by South Melbourne with Bob Pratt scoring 15 goals. After a few weeks in Essendon's reserve team he moved to Fitzroy, briefly playing for their reserve team before returning to Castlemaine in the middle of the year. David Andrew Wilkie (born 8 March 1954) is a Scottish former competitive swimmer who was Olympic and Commonwealth Games champion in the 1970s. David John Wilkie (born May 30, 1974) is an American former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, and New York Rangers. He played defense and shot right-handed. Playing career After a successful season with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League, Wilkie was seen as one of the top upcoming defensive prospects for the 1992 NHL Entry Draft and was selected in the 1st round, 20th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens.
