David Salomon (author)
David Salomon is an author and photographer living in Dallas, Texas, US. Salomon is from Israel, and served in the Golani Brigade in the IDF from 1970 to 1974. In 1974 Salomon moved to Brooklyn, New York. Brown Books Publishing Group published Salomon's ''Penguin-Pedia: Photographs and Facts from One Man's Search for the Penguins of the World'' in 2011. ''Penguin-Pedia'' pairs research on all seventeen penguin species with Salomon's own photographs of each species in the wild. In 2014 Salomon published ''Igor Samsonov: Painter and Passionate Visionary'', a monograph of the Russian painter Igor Samsonov. Random House published a book written by Salomon in the fall of 2017. Golani Brigade
The 1st "Golani" Brigade ( he, חֲטִיבַת גּוֹלָנִי) is an Israeli military infantry brigade that is subordinated to the 36th Division and traditionally associated with the Northern Command. It is one of the five infantry brigades of the regular Israel Defense Forces (IDF) (the others being the Paratroopers Brigade, the Nahal Brigade, the Givati Brigade and the Kfir Brigade). Its symbol is a green olive tree against a yellow background, with its soldiers wearing a brown beret. It is one of the most highly decorated infantry units in the IDF. The brigade consists of five battalions, including two which it kept from its inception (12th and 13th), one transferred from the Givati Brigade (51st). Igor Samsonov
Igor Samsonov is a contemporary painter born in Voronezh, Russia, on January 7, 1963 his paintings have been in exhibitions in Russia, Europe, and the U.S. He is known to have his own modern take on Classical Realism while also being influenced by Renaissance, Dutch Renaissance, and Post-Impressionist artists. Career Samsonov initially decided on a career in mathematics and earned the equivalent of a Master's degree from Voronezh State University. He accepted a job with the Institute of Research but found himself more and more drawn back to art, especially after viewing some of Van Gogh's paintings at the Hermitage Museum in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). In 1990 Samsonov moved to Leningrad, where he studied at the Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and was a student of Oleg Eremeev. An art gallery is a room or a building in which visual art is displayed.
