David Arthur Brown
David Arthur Brown is an American musician and the lead vocalist and principal songwriter for the US band Brazzaville. Life and career David Arthur Brown was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 19, 1967. He was a runaway who later became interested in low budget travel and poetry. His early years were spent largely in the Koreatown district of Los Angeles. Beginning in his late teens he traveled extensively through Asia, South America, and Europe. Along the way he learned to play the saxophone which he played in Beck's band from 1997 through 2000. Morphine (band)
Morphine was an American rock band formed by Mark Sandman, Dana Colley, and Jerome Deupree in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1989. Drummer Billy Conway also played in the band, frequently during Deupree's absence, though at times both played together. After five successful albums and extensive touring, they disbanded after lead vocalist Sandman died of a heart attack onstage in Palestrina, Italy, on July 3, 1999. Founding members have reformed into the band Vapors of Morphine, maintaining much of the original style and sound. Morphine combined blues and jazz elements with more traditional rock arrangements, giving the band an unusual sound. Sandman sang distinctively in a "deep, laid-back croon", and his songwriting featured a prominent beat influence. Brazzaville is an American indie pop band founded in 1997 by David Brown. Brown was at one time Beck's saxophonist and took part in recording of ''Odelay'' and ''Midnite Vultures''. On May 7, 2009, David Brown officially announced the dissolution of the band, stating that he would henceforth be recording and releasing music under the name David Arthur Brown, albeit with "many of the wonderful musicians who have contributed to Brazzaville records."
