Daoud Research Group (DRG) () is a Sudan–based nonprofit organization with a mission to provide neurology care for patients in need, and to give more chances for health professionals in the field of neurological researches. DRG was founded by Professor Abbashar Hussein in 1995 History In 1995, Daoud Research Group (DRG) was founded by Professor Abbashar Hussein. He named it after his professor Daoud Mustafa Khalid. Daoud Mustafa Khalid
Daoud Mustafa Khalid (, 10 August 1917 – 3 June 2008) was a prominent Sudanese physician and neurologist. He was known as the "''founding father of medicine in Sudan''''. Life and career Early life and education Daoud Mustafa Khalid was born in Tuti Island, on 10 August 1917. His formal schooling started with Khalwa, in which he spent only two weeks, and Kuttab Tuti or Tuti elementary school in 1924 for one year before he moved to Kuttab Abu Zabad when his father moved to that town. He then moved to Um Rawwaba before they came back again to Tuti. He had his intermediate schooling in Khartoum in the period 1928-31, and secondary school in Gordon Memorial College (the only secondary school in Sudan at that time) in the period 1932-1935. He joined Khartoum Kitchener School of Medicine in 1936, in which he spent 5 years. Abbashar Hussein
Abbashar Hussein (Arabic: أبشر حسين; born 10 April 1959) is a Sudanese neurologist, scholar, and professor at University of Khartoum. He is known for founding Daoud Research Group, a non-profit organization that provides free health care for neurology patients in Sudan. Career Abbashar is a professor of Neurology at University of Khartoum. He graduated from university of khartoum faculty of Medicine in 1984 Charity work In 1995, Abbashar founded Daoud Research Group (DRG) (named after his professor Daoud Mustafa Khalid), a non-profit organization that provide care for patients in need for neurological evaluation and treatment. As part of DRG, he runs Daoud Charity Clinic, in Banat, where he treats patients for free every Friday. It attract patients from all over Sudan. The Fajr prayer ( ar, صلاة الفجر ', "dawn prayer") is one of the five mandatory salah (Islamic prayer), to be performed anytime starting from the moment of dawn, but not after sunrise.
