Danny Cox (musician)
Danny Cox (born 1943) is an American folk singer and songwriter, best known for his 1974 LP album ''Feel So Good''. Life and career Danny (Daniel Jr., aka Sonny) Cox was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States to Bessy and Daniel Cox (Senior), the seventh of eight children. As a youth, he sang in a church choir together with Rudolph Iseley. In the 1960s he started his professional career performing on a Hootennany Folk Tour. Cox has recorded albums for ABC Dunhill, Casablanca, MGM, and others. He also recorded with recording/production company Good Karma Productions. Good Karma was run by Vanguard Coffee House (K.C.). Owner Stan Plesser managed Cox's career along with acts such as folk rock duo Brewer & Shipley, and the Southern rock band, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils Cox moved to Kansas City in 1967, where he continued his career and prospered both musically and personally. Troost Avenue is one of the major streets in Kansas City, Missouri and the Kansas City metropolitan area. It is 10.7 miles long, from the north point at 4th Street to the south point at Bannister Road. History The street is named after the first physician to reside in Kansas City, Dr. Benoist Troost. He was born November 17, 1786 in Holland and moved to the United States in 1815, settling in Independence, Missouri in 1844. The Ozark Mountain Daredevils are an American rock band formed in 1972 in Springfield, Missouri. They are most widely known for their singles " If You Wanna Get to Heaven" in 1974 and "Jackie Blue" in 1975. Bassist Michael "Supe" Granda has also written a book about the band, ''It Shined.'' Name According to the book ''It Shined'' by Michael Granda, the band name was derived from "Cosmic Corn Cob & His Amazing Ozark Mountain Daredevils", a name that John Dillon came up with at a Kansas City "naming party" after the band was told that the name they had previously been using, "Family Tree", was already taken.
