Daniel Tse
Daniel Tse Chi-wai, GBS, CBE, JP (born 1934 in Macau) is the chair of the University Council of the University of Macau. He was also the member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Biography Tse was born and brought up in Macau. He obtained bachelor's degree in Mathematics and master's degree in Physics at the Baylor University, and obtained doctoral degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He became the President of the Hong Kong Baptist College in 1971 and led it to gain the full university status in 1994. He retired from the Hong Kong Baptist University in 2001. He was appointed to the Kowloon City District Board and elected to the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 1985 through an electoral college consisting of members of the Kowloon City District Board in the first Legislative Council election, in which he served until 1991. The Gold Bauhinia Star (, GBS) is the highest Bauhinia Star rank in the honours system of Hong Kong, created in 1997 to replace the British honours system of the Order of the British Empire after the transfer of sovereignty to People's Republic of China and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC, zh, 中国人民政治协商会议), also known as the People's PCC (, ) or simply the PCC (), is a political advisory body in the People's Republic of China and a central part of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s United Front system. Preparatory Committee For The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
The Preparatory Committee for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was a body established by the People's Republic of China government on 26 January 1996 for the transition of the Hong Kong sovereignty in 1997. The Preparatory Committee was responsible for implementation work related to the establishment of the HKSAR, including the prescription of the method for the formation of the first government and first Legislative Council and establishment of the Selection Committee, which in turn was responsible for the selection of the first chief executive and the members of the Provisional Legislative Council. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Basic Law Consultative Committee (BLCC; 香港基本法諮詢委員會) was an official body established in 1985 to canvass views in Hong Kong on the drafts of the Hong Kong Basic Law. Sovereignty of Hong Kong was transferred from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China (PRC) at midnight on 1 July 1997. This event ended 156 years of British rule in the former colony.
