Daniel Pool (born 1999) is a Scottish indoor bowler. Bowls career In 2021, Pool was selected for the Scotland under 18s squad. He is twice the World Indoor U25 Champion after winning the title at the 2022 World Indoor Bowls Championship and the 2023 World Indoor Bowls Championship. World Indoor Bowls Championships
The World Indoor Bowls Championship is an international bowls competition held annual at Potters holiday park in Hopton on Sea. The last week of the competition is televised live on BBC where the open singles and open pairs', women's singles and mixed pairs' finals are shown. History The competition was first held in 1979 in Coatbridge, Scotland as a men's singles only event. The first event was sponsored by Embassy Cigarettes. In 1986, the men's pairs competition was added to the championship. In 1988, a rule change allowed women to compete for the first time and the women's singles competition was created. This rule change also changed expanded the men's singles and pairs competition and both become open tournaments. In 1989, the championships moved to the Guild Hall in Preston, England And Churchill Insurance took over the sponsorship. 2022 World Indoor Bowls Championship
The 2022 Just World Indoor Bowls Championship took place at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 7–23 January 2022. The event is organised by the World Bowls Tour, and will be televised by the BBC and streamed live on YouTube. The Open Singles was won by the sixth seed Les Gillett who overcame five times champion Paul Foster. Gillett won the first set by virtue of overtaking Foster's lead during the final ends. Foster comfortably won the second set before Gillett won the tie break. Katherine Rednall won a record breaking fourth women's singles title. In the open pairs Stewart Anderson and Darren Burnett defeated defending champions Mark Dawes and Jamie Chestney to win their second title together. Paul Foster and Alison Merrien won the mixed pairs title. 2023 World Indoor Bowls Championship
''This page is about the World Bowls Tour Championships.'' The 2023 Imagine Cruising World Indoor Bowls Championship took place at Potters Resort, Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 6 to 22 January 2023. There were two preliminary round ties in the open singles, with Jason Banks (bowls), Jason Banks beating Darren Weir and Jon Wilson defeating Scott Edwards (bowls), Scott Edwards. Banks went on to reach the final where he met Jamie Walker (bowls), Jamie Walker. This was first time that the open/men's singles final featured two unseeded players since seeds were introduced in 1988. Previously eight unseeded players had reached finals (5 went on to win) but all eight had played seeded players in the final. In the final Walker gained a five shot lead after just two ends but Banks continually played close to the jack and drew level before Walker won the last end with the last bowl. Darren Weir (born 1999) is a Scottish international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Weir won the Scottish under-18 title in 2016 and is a three times consecutive Scottish under-21 champion indoors (2018–20). In 2019, Weir was selected for the European Bowls Championships, where he won two silver medals. He made his debut at the indoor World Championships during the 2021 World Indoor Bowls Championship.
