Daewoo Tico
The Daewoo Tico is a city car produced by the South Korean automaker Daewoo from 1991 to 2001. Overview The Daewoo Tico was based largely on the 1988 Kei car Suzuki Alto. The car was equipped with a three-cylinder 796 cc S-TEC engine -upgraded version for export markets of the "Kei" engine 547 cc (33.4 cu in) F5B engine-, and came with either a five-speed manual transmission or three-speed automatic transmission (only in Korea). The Tico was exported to European markets. It was highly popular in such countries as: Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria and Poland. It was also exported to Latin America where it also was named Daewoo Fino for some markets. It was especially popular in Peru, where it was one of the most popular car models used for taxi services. Daewoo Motors ( ) was a South Korean automotive company established in 1937 as "National Motors". The company changed its name several times until 1982 when it became "Daewoo Motors" following its acquisition by the Daewoo Group. Daewoo S-TEC Engine
S-TEC or M-TEC is a low-displacement engine range co-developed by Suzuki and Daewoo Motors for use in micro and subcompact cars. S-TEC The first model was SOHC straight-three engine based on the powerplant of the Suzuki Alto. In 2002, the range was extended to and inline-four engines and updated with EGR valve to reduce emission. A new engine plant for the updated model T4 was built. The 1.0 version is used in Chevrolet Matiz and the 1.2 in the European Chevrolet Kalos. In 2004 the 0.8 and 1.0 engines were updated again. New intake and exhaust systems, along with low-friction aluminum cam followers with rollers were added, resulting in better economy.
