Daan Remmerts De Vries
Daan Remmerts de Vries (born 5 April 1962) is a Dutch writer and illustrator. Career Remmerts de Vries made his debut in 1990 with ''Zippy en Slos'', a collection of short stories. He won the Gouden Griffel award twice: in 2003, for his book ''Godje'' and, in 2010, for his book ''Voordat jij er was''. He also won the Zilveren Griffel award in 2015 for ''Soms laat ik je even achter'' and in 2017 for ''T.rex Trix in Naturalis''. In 2021, he won the Theo Thijssen-prijs for his entire oeuvre. Remmerts de Vries has illustrated books written by several authors, including Ted van Lieshout, Sjoerd Kuyper and Francine Oomen. He has also illustrated many of his own books. Gouden Griffel
The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Aside from these, the ''Gouden Penseel'' (golden paintbrush) is awarded to the best illustrated children's books (with silver ''penseel'' as a runner-up), and since 1997 the Gouden Zoen (golden kiss, with silver as a runner-up) is awarded to the best books for teenagers. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts. The Theo Thijssen-prijsSometimes spelled ''Theo Thijssenprijs''. (Dutch for Theo Thijssen Prize) is a Dutch literary award awarded once every three years to a Dutch author of children's literature or young adult fiction. The award is not given for a particular work but for the entire oeuvre. The award is named after Dutch writer, teacher and socialist politician Theo Thijssen. The Theo Thijssen-prijs is a continuation of the literary award ''Staatsprijs voor kinder- en jeugdliteratuur'' (Dutch for ''State prize for children's and youth literature'') which was first awarded in 1964. The award ceremony is held in the Dutch Museum of Literature in The Hague. The award is awarded by the Stichting P.C. Hooft-prijs voor Letterkunde. Ted Van Lieshout
Ted van Lieshout (born 21 December 1955) is a Dutch poet and writer of children's literature. He has won numerous awards for his work. Early life Van Lieshout was born in 1955 in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Van Lieshout studied ''Beeldende Kunsten en Vormgeving'' between 1975 and 1980 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Until 1990 he was part-time teacher at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. After graduating van Lieshout made drawings for the newspaper ''NRC Handelsblad'' as well as magazines such as ''Avenue'' and ''Blauw Geruite Kiel'', the youth magazine of ''Vrij Nederland''. He also contributed to the television shows ''Het Klokhuis'' and ''Sesamstraat''. He became a full-time writer in 1990.
