DAL Group
DAL Group is a private Sudanese conglomerate, the largest private company in the country. It operates across several business sectors including food, engineering and agriculture. History The DAL Group originated from the engineering company Sayer & Colley, founded in 1951 by two British partners when Sudan was under Anglo-Egyptian rule. Sayer & Colley later received Caterpillar's franchise for the country. In 1966, ten years after Sudan's independence, Caterpillar transferred the franchise to the Sudanese Tractor Company (SUTRAC) owned by Daoud Abdellatif, with Sayer & Colley retaining a minority share. Both companies were nationalized in 1970 then de-nationalized in 1971, although the government kept a minority share in both. Khartoum International Community School (KICS) is a private English-medium international School, established by the DAL Group in 2004. Located on a purpose-built campus in the Hay El Raqi area, a Southern suburb of Khartoum, Sudan, KICS caters for students from age of 3 to 18 years. Gum Arabic
Gum arabic, also known as gum sudani, acacia gum, Arabic gum, gum acacia, acacia, Senegal gum, Indian gum, and by other names, is a natural gum originally consisting of the hardened sap of two species of the '' Acacia'' tree, ''Senegalia senegal'' and ''Vachellia seyal.'' The term "gum arabic" does not legally indicate a particular botanical source, however. Al-Mogran Development Project
The Al-Mogran Development Project is an over $4 billion development project undertaken by the Alsunut Development Company that seeks to develop several thousand acres in downtown Khartoum along the spot where the White Nile and Blue Nile merge to form the Nile. The discovery of oil in Sudan has provided the Sudanese government with a billion dollar surplus that allows the funding of this project. Starting in 2004, the project has two main phases: * Phase I: The Central Business District development * Phase II: The residential estate portion The Al-Mogran project, when completed, would have produce of office space, 1,100 villas, housing for 45,000 residents and visitors, and jobs for 60,000 Sudanese.
