Friedrich Kasimir Medikus (or Friedrich Casimir Medicus; 6 January 1738 – 8 July 1808) was a German physician and botanist. He was born at Grumbach and became director of the University of Mannheim (Theodoro Palatinae Mannheim) and curator of the botanical garden at Mannheim. In biology, a species is the basic unit of classification and a taxonomic rank of an organism, as well as a unit of biodiversity. ''Cullen corylifolium'', synonym ''Psoralea corylifolia'', (babchi) is a plant used in Indian and Chinese traditional medicine. The seeds of this plant contain a variety of coumarins, including psoralen. A region is arid when it severely lacks available water, to the extent of hindering or preventing the growth and development of plant and animal life. Subtropics
The subtropical zones or subtropics are geographical and climate zones to the north and south of the tropics.
