Makomanai Cross Country Events Site
Makomanai Park (真駒内公園) is a city park in Minami-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. It is home to attractions such as Makomanai Open Stadium, Makomanai Ice Arena and the Sapporo Salmon Museum. It also contains a small gymnasium, restaurant and a shop. The area where the park is now located was the main site of the Sapporo 1972 Winter Olympic Games. History The current Makomanai Park was originally the site of a former dairy factory and farm. For the 1972 Winter Olympics it was designated as the main area for the Games, where most facilities, including the main stadium, were to be built. After the Olympics, construction of the Park began and in 1975 it was officially opened to the public. Alois Kälin
Alois "Wisel" Kälin (born 13 April 1939) is a former Swiss Nordic skier who competed in the 1960s and 1970s. He won a Nordic combined silver at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble and a bronze in the 4 x 10 km cross-country skiing relay at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo. Additionally he won a bronze medal in the Nordic combined at the 1966 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo. Kälin was the first Swiss to win a Winter Olympic medal in Nordic skiing, earning his award on 11 February 1968, four days before his fellow countryman Josef Haas would earn a bronze in the 50 km cross country event. Berit Mørdre
Berit Mørdre-Lammedal (née Mørdre, 16 April 1940 – 23 August 2016) was a Norwegian cross-country skier. She competed at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics in the 5 km, 10 km and 3 × 5 km relay events and won a complete set of medals: a gold, a silver and a bronze. She also won a silver medal in the relay at the 1966 World Championships. Mørdre was born and raised on a farm in Nes, but since 1965 lived in Oslo, where she worked as a police officer. In 1969 she married, and changed her last name to Mørdre-Lammedal. She took part in several Holmenkollen ski festivals, winning the 5 km race in 1974. Inger Aufles (née ''Døving'' on 29 May 1941) is a retired Norwegian cross-country skier who competed during the 1960s and 1970s. Hilkka Riihivuori (née Kuntola, born 24 December 1952 in Jurva, Southern Ostrobothnia) is a Finland, Finnish former cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who competed during the 1970s and 1980s. She competed in three Winter Olympics, earning a total of four medals (1972 and 1976 under her maiden name and 1980 under her married name.).
