Corona Championship
The Tres Marias Championship was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour, played from 2005 to 2010, at Tres Marias Residential Golf Club in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. From 2005 through 2009 the title sponsor of the tournament was Mexican beer Corona. Lorena Ochoa of Mexico won the event three times: 2006, 2008, and 2009. The 2011 tournament was originally scheduled for April 21–24. Morelia, Michoacan
Morelia (; from 1545 to 1828 known as Valladolid) is a city and municipal seat of the municipality of Morelia in the north-central part of the state of Michoacán in central Mexico. The city is in the Guayangareo Valley and is the capital and largest city of the state. The main pre-Hispanic cultures here were the Purépecha and the Matlatzinca, but no major cities were founded in the valley during this time. The Spanish took control of the area in the 1520s. The Spanish under Viceroy Antonio de Mendoza founded a settlement here in 1541 with the name of Valladolid, which became rival to the nearby city of Pátzcuaro for dominance in Michoacán. In 1580, this rivalry ended in Valladolid's favor and it became the capital of the viceregal province. The 2012 LPGA Tour was a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world that began in Australia on February 9 and ended November 18 in Florida. The tournaments are sanctioned by the United States-based Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). Anna Carin Pernilla Hjalmarsson Koch (née Hjalmarsson; born 23 February 1971) is a Swedish professional golfer who previously played on the Ladies European Tour and on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. Silvia Cavalleri (born 10 October 1972) is an Italian professional golfer who plays on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour.
