Connie Keane
Cornelius Keane (1930 - 19 December 2010) was an Irish people, Irish hurling, hurler who played as a right wing-back for the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary senior team. Career Keane first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Thurles Fennellys GAA, Thurles Fennellys club. He subsequently joined the Thurles Sarsfields GAA, Thurles Sarsfields Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, senior team, with his career coinciding with an unprecedented era of success for the club. Between 1952 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, 1952 and 1959 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, 1959 Keane won six Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, Tipperary SHC titles. Thurles Sarsfields
Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred in the town of Thurles at Semple Stadium. The club was founded in 1881 and is the most honoured club in the history of the county championship with 36 County Titles. Tipperary Senior Hurling Team
The Tipperary county hurling team represents Tipperary in hurling and is governed by Tipperary GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League. The 1955 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 65th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. Michael Keane (hurler)
Michael Keane (1933 – 9 January 2002) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Thurles Sarsfields and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Keane first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with Thurles Sarsfields. He subsequently progressed onto the club's senior team, with his career coinciding with an unprecedented era of success for the club. Between 1952 and 1965 Keane won 11 Tipperary SHC titles and captained the team in 1960. He also won a Tipperary SFC with Thurles Crokes in 1960. Keane brought his club career to an end after a defeat by Roscrea in the 1968 final. Keane first played for Tipperary during an unsuccessful season with the minor team in 1951. His progression to the senior team was delayed due to the dominance of Tony Reddin. Keane became Reddin's understudy in 1955 before taking over as first-choice goalkeeper the following year. The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
