The team would go on to make it to the final of the event, losing to Glenn Howard in the final. Dow took the 2013-14 season off to focus on getting a Master's Degree from the University of Waterloo. 2019 Ontario Tankard
The 2019 Ontario Men's Curling Championship, better known as the Tankard, the 2019 provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 27 to February 3 at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario. The winning Scott McDonald team would represent Ontario at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier in Brandon, Manitoba. The event is being held in conjunction with the 2019 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship. Unlike the 2018 event, the 2019 Tankard returned to having a round-robin format. The 2018 Ontario Tankard, known as the Dairy Farmers of Ontario Tankard for sponsorship reasons is the 2018 provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 31 to February 4 at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, Ontario. The winning John Epping team represented Ontario at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina, Saskatchewan. The event had a triple knockout format, rather than the traditional round robin event as done in previous years. The number of qualified teams increased from 10 to 12. Qualification process 12 teams will qualify from two regional qualifiers (three each), a challenge round (three teams), the winner of the Colts competition, plus the top two southern Ontario teams in the CTRS standings (as of December 10, 2017). The Stu Sells Cookstown Classic, formerly the CookstownCash presented by Comco Canada Inc. is an annual curling tournament that was part of the World Curling Tour, the highest-level curling tour in the world. Career Corner was a member of the 1993 "dream team" of his cousin Wayne Middaugh and the brothers of Glenn and Russ Howard. Corner played lead for the team. All four players would skip teams to provincial championships in the future. In 1993, the team won the Brier and World Championship. Corner played in his first national championships at the 1987 Canadian Junior Curling Championships playing third for Middaugh. The team lost in the final to New Brunswick's Jim Sullivan. Wayne Middaugh
Robert Wayne Middaugh (born September 20, 1967) is a Canadian curler. Born in Brampton, Ontario, Middaugh resides in Victoria Harbour, Ontario. He is the only player to have won the Canadian Men's Curling Championship (known as the Brier) at three different positions: skip (1998), third (2012), and second (1993). He was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 2020. He currently coaches the Anna Hasselborg rink from Sweden. Career Middaugh is a three-time world champion, once as second for Russ Howard in 1993, as a skip in 1998, and as third for Glenn Howard in 2012. Gregory Balsdon (born October 9, 1977) is a Canadian curler from North York, Ontario. He currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Curling career Balsdon was born in Toronto, Ontario. In 1995, Balsdon won the Ontario Schoolboy championship for his Don Mills Collegiate Institute team. In 1996, he won the provincial junior mixed title. Balsdon skips one of the top teams in Ontario. As of 2019, Balsdon has played in 13 provincial championships. He first played at the provincials in 1999, playing for John Base (4th place). He left the Base rink in 2000 to form his own team.
