''Christmas at Camp 119'' (Italian: ''Natale al campo 119'') is a 1947 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Pietro Francisci and starring Aldo Fabrizi, Vittorio De Sica and Peppino De Filippo. A group of Italian prisoners of war being held captive in California dream of life back home as they await their release.Moliterno p.136 It was shot at the Palatino Studios in Rome and on location in Naples, Milan, Florence and Venice. Pietro Francisci (9 September 1906 – 1977) was an Italian film director, best remembered for the film ''Hercules'' (1958) which inspired the sword and sandal boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Vera Carmi
Vera Carmi (23 November 1914 – 6 September 1969) was an Italian film actress. She appeared in more than 50 films between 1940 and 1956. She was born in Turin, Italy and died in Rome, Italy. Life and career Carmi was born Virginia Doglioli in Turin. After being spotted by the director Ferdinando Maria Poggioli in a beauty contest, she made her film debut in 1940, in a supporting role in Poggioli's ''Goodbye Youth (1940 film), Goodbye Youth'' and in a short time she became one of the most requested actresses in the Telefoni Bianchi genre. After the war she got critical acclaim for a number of dramatic performances, notably Mario Soldati's ''His Young Wife'' and Luciano Emmer's ''Sunday in August''. She was also very active on stage. Gradually cast in less important roles, she eventually retired in the second half of the 1950s. Carmi was the first wife of the football player Aldo Giuseppe Borel. Carlo Mazzarella
Carlo Mazzarella (30 July 1919 – 7 March 1993) was an Italian actor and journalist. Life and career Born in Genoa, Mazzarella enrolled in the Silvio d’Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduating in 1942. Almost immediately he debuted on stage, working with Anna Proclemer and Sergio Tofano, among others. In the aftermath of the Second World War, Mazzarella started a prolific film career as a character actor. In 1955 he started a new career as a television journalist for RAI TV, specializing on news about costume, theater and cinema, and gradually abandoning his acting career. He retired in 1985. Mazzarella died of lung cancer at the age of 73. Alberto Rabagliati (27 June 1906 in Milan – 8 March 1974 in Rome) was an Italian singer. Early career Alberto Rabagliati was born in Milan in 1906 and was the son of piedmontese spouses: his father Leandro Valentino Rabagliati and his mother Delfina Besso were both natives of Casorzo, a common on the hills of the Montferrat in the Province of Asti (Italy). In 1927, he moved to Hollywood as the winner of a Rudolph Valentino look-alike contest. He later recalled: "For someone like me, who had seen no more than Lake Como or Monza Cathedral so far, finding myself on board a luxury steamer with three cases full of clothes, a few rolls of dollars, gran-duchesses and countesses flirting with me was something extraordinary". Massimo Girotti (18 May 1918 – 5 January 2003) was an Italian film actor whose career spanned seven decades. Born in Mogliano, in the province of Macerata, Girotti developed his athletic physique by swimming and playing polo. Carlo Campanini (5 October 1906 – 20 November 1984), was an Italian actor, singer and comedian. He appeared in more than 120 films between 1939 and 1969. Life and career Born in Turin, Campanini attended a technical school and a course of singing, then he started his career at nineteen entering the company of prose Casaleggio, with whom he toured six months in Argentina.
