Chiliomodi
Chiliomodi ( el, Χιλιομόδι) is a village in eastern Corinthia, Peloponnese, Greece. It was the seat of the municipality of Tenea. Chiliomodi is situated in a valley, 3 km southeast of Koutalas, 5 km west of Athikia, 21 km southwest of Corinth and 43 km northeast of Argos. It is on the Greek National Road 7 (Corinth – Argos – Tripoli – Kalamata) and on the railway from Corinth to Kalamata. Chiliomodi has several schools, shops and a church. Chiliomodi suffered damage from the 2007 Greek forest fires. Climate Chiliomodi has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification: ''Csa''). Irene Papas
Irene Papas or Irene Pappas ( el, Ειρήνη Παππά, Eiríni Pappá, ; born Eirini Lelekou ( el, Ειρήνη Λελέκου, Eiríni Lelékou, link=no); 3 September 1929 – 14 September 2022) was a Greek actress and singer who starred in over 70 films in a career spanning more than 50 years. She gained international recognition through such popular award-winning films as '' The Guns of Navarone'' (1961), ''Zorba the Greek'' (1964) and '' Z'' (1969). Tenea
Tenea ( el, Τενέα) is a municipal unit within the municipality of Corinth, Corinthia, Peloponnese, Greece. The municipal unit has an area of . Until 2011, it was a municipality whose seat was in Chiliomodi. The modern city is named after ancient Tenea, established approximately SE of Corinth and NE of Mycenae shortly after the Trojan War. According to Pausanias, Tenea's founders were Trojan prisoners of war whom Agamemnon had allowed to build their own town. The name Tenea is styled upon Tenedos, the founders' home town, whose mythological eponym was the hero Tenes. Tenea and Rome, according to Virgil's Aeneid, had in the years following the Trojan War produced citizens of Trojan ancestry. 1000mods
1000mods is a stoner metal band from Chiliomodi, Greece, formed in 2006. The group consists of Dani G. (vocals and bass), Giannis S. (guitar), Giorgos T. (guitar), and Labros G. (drums). The name of the group is a pun linked to the village in which they were formed, as "a thousand" is pronounced "chillia" in Greek. History 1000mods formed in 2006. The band released two EPs, ''Blank Reality'' in 2007 and ''Liquid Sleep'' in 2009. In October 2010, they produced their first album ''Super Van Vacation'' with Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis). In order to promote their debut album, they played two European tour with 40 shows in 15 countries, including festivals such as Rockwave Festival, Desertfest and Lake on Fire. Panagiotis Verdes is a Greek inventor and is known for being the first person to mass produce 6x6x6 puzzles and 7x7x7 twisty puzzles. He is also known for founding the company V-Cube. 2007 Greek Forest Fires
The 2007 Greek forest fires were a series of massive forest fires that broke out in several areas across Greece throughout the summer of 2007. The most destructive and lethal infernos broke out on 23 August, expanded rapidly and raged out of control until 27 August, until they were finally put out in early September. The fires mainly affected western and southern Peloponnese as well as southern Euboea. The death toll in August alone stood at 67 people. In total 84 people lost their lives because of the fires, including several fire fighters. Some of these firestorms are believed to be the result of arson while others were merely the result of negligence. Hot temperatures, including three consecutive heat waves of over 40 °C (105 °F), and severe drought rendered the 2007 summer unprecedented in modern Greek history. Koutalas, Corinthia
Koutalas ( el, Κουταλάς) is a rural village and a community in southern Corinthia, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Tenea. In 2011 its population was 215 for the village, and 746 for the community. The community consists of the villages Koutalas, Mapsos (pop. 174) and Spathovouni (pop. 357). Koutalas is situated on a hillside, 3 km northwest of Chiliomodi, 5 km northeast of Agios Vasileios and 14 km southwest of Corinth. Koutalas suffered damage from the 2007 Greek forest fires. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936.
