Cheadle Heath
Cheadle Heath is a suburb of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, west of the town centre and southeast of Manchester. Cheadle Heath railway station, on the site now occupied by Morrisons supermarket, closed in 1967. It is home to Cheadle Heath Nomads Football Club. Industry Cheadle Heath is home to a number of engineering companies including Thales Underwater Systems, a company formed from the sonar activities of Ferranti. The engineering company Henry Simon Ltd built a large factory and office complex on Bird Hall Lane 1924-26. Later the whole of extensive engineering business was moved to Cheadle Heath. The distinctive tower at the front of the research and development block was used to test experimental flour milling machinery. Most of the site is now demolished. Metropolitan Borough Of Stockport
The Metropolitan Borough of Stockport is a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester in North West England, south-east of central Manchester. As well as the towns of Stockport, Bredbury and Marple, it includes the outlying areas of Hazel Grove, Bramhall, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Gatley, Reddish, Woodley and Romiley. In 2021, it had a population of 294,800. The borough is third-most populous of Greater Manchester. Stockport
Stockport is a town and borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. The River Goyt and Tame merge to create the River Mersey here. Most of the town is within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, with the area north of the Mersey in the historic county of Lancashire. Cheadle Heath railway station was a railway station in Cheadle Heath, Cheshire, England. Construction and opening The station was built on the Midland Railway's New Mills and Heaton Mersey Line (the so-called "Disley cut off" line) to avoid the congestion and junctions of New Mills, Marple, Romiley and Stockport Tiviot Dale and difficult profile of the existing line, slowing down London St Pancras to Manchester Central express trains via the Manchester South District Line.
