Catarina Leite Oralová (January 20, 1983) is a Portuguese chess player. She is titled woman international master (2001). Eight times national champion (from 1999 to 2006), she participated in the Chess Olympiad in Istanbul 2000, Calvià 2004, Turin 2006 and Dresden 2008. Woman International Master
FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Titles generally require a combination of Elo rating and norms (performance benchmarks in competitions including other titled players). The Portuguese Chess Championship is a yearly national chess championship of Portugal. The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams representing nations of the world compete. FIDE organises the tournament and selects the host nation. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, FIDE held an Online Chess Olympiad in 2020 and 2021, with a rapid time control that affected players' online ratings. Chess Rating System
A chess rating system is a system used in chess to estimate the strength of a player, based on their performance versus other players. They are used by organizations such as FIDE, the US Chess Federation (USCF or US Chess), International Correspondence Chess Federation, and the English Chess Federation. Most of the systems are used to recalculate ratings after a tournament or match but some are used to recalculate ratings after individual games. Popular online chess sites such as chess.com, Lichess, and Internet Chess Club also implement rating systems. In almost all systems, a higher number indicates a stronger player. Tomáš Oral (born 24 December 1977) is a chess Grandmaster from the Czech Republic. Career Oral started playing chess aged five when his father taught him the rules. Oral won the European under-14 championships in 1991 and was fifth at the under-20 world championships. He became Grandmaster in 1999. He participated twice in the European Team Chess Championships, playing on top board in 2001 and finishing with 3½ points from 8 games.
