Carlos Andrés Alvarado Quesada (; born 14 January 1980) is a Costa Rican politician, writer, journalist and political scientist who served as the 48th president of Costa Rica from 8 May 2018 to 8 May 2022. A member of the Citizens' Action Party (PAC), Alvarado was previously Minister of Labor and Social Security during the presidency of Luis Guillermo Solís. Alvarado, who was 38 years old at the time of his presidential inauguration, became the youngest serving Costa Rican president since Alfredo González Flores who took office in 1914 at the age of 36. Education Alvarado holds a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in political science from the University of Costa Rica. Carlos Alvarado Lang (January 14, 1905 – September 3, 1961) was a Mexican printmaker and professor. He taught metal engraving and later served as the program director at Academy of San Carlos, from 1929 to 1949. Biography Carlos Alvarado Lang was born January 14, 1905, in La Piedad de Cabadas, Michoacán, Mexico. When he was age 14, he began his studies in the National School of Fine Arts (Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas de la Universidad Nacional autónoma de México). Alvarado Lang studied printmaking under engraver Emiliano Valadéz at the Academy of San Carlos (Spanish: ''Academia de San Carlos'', also ''Escuela Nacional de San Carlos'') in Mexico City. Carlos Alvarado-Larroucau is an Argentine-born French author, born in Argentina in 1964. Carlos Alvarado Villalobos (born 19 December 1927) was a Costa Rican footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He also represented Costa Rica at international level. Club career Known as "Aguilucho", he was born in Santa Bárbara, Heredia, Alvarado played as a goalkeeper. He began his career with L.D. Alajuelense, making his Costa Rican Primera División debut in 1945. Alvarado spent most of his career with Alajuelense, winning six Primera División titles in the process. There, he earned the nickname "Aguilucho" (hawk) for the aggressive manner in which he attacked opponents trying to score. He would play 159 league games for ''Liga''. Alvarado began playing professional football with Mexican Primera División side Club América in 1947. Carlos Alvarado (12 May 1949 – 16 February 2016) was a Honduran footballer who played as a striker. Alvarado is often considered by many the greatest C.D.S. Vida footballer of all times. Club career Alvarado is C.D.S. Vida's all-time top scorer with 76 goals. He made his professional debut on 15 May 1968 in the 1–4 defeat against C.D. Victoria where he scored the sole Vida's goal. He has the shared record of scoring five goals in a single game against C.D. Troya in 1967. In 1972, he became the first Liga Nacional player to win the top-scorer award twice. Giancarlo Carlos (Martinez) Alvarado (born January 24, 1978) is a professional baseball pitcher. He was raised in Camuy, Puerto Rico. He has played in the Chinese Professional Baseball League and Nippon Professional Baseball as well as in international competitions with the Puerto Rico national baseball team. Career Alvarado was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1995 and made his professional baseball debut with the rookie class Gulf Coast Pirates that same year. After two seasons in the Gulf Coast League, he was promoted to the Class-A Augusta GreenJackets in 1997.
