Carlos Alvarado-Larroucau is an Argentine-born French author, born in Argentina in 1964. Biography After Alvarado-Larroucau completed his secondary education in the province of Tucumán, he settled in Buenos Aires, where he studied languages, philosophy and law. He further pursued his studies for many years in Canada, USA and France. He holds a doctorate degree in French Language and Literature from Paris 8 University. He graduated with honors in Comparative Literature and French Literature at the University of Montreal, Canada, having obtained a fellowship from the Ministry of Education of Quebec. He earned a diploma with honors from Florida International University in the United States, and the Sorbonne University and Paris 8 University in France. Dominique Barbéris (born 1958) is a French novelist, author of literary studies and university professor, specializing in stylistics and writing workshops. Biography Born in 1958 in Cameroon into a French family of Nantes, her father was a diplomat in Africa. Tahar Ben Jelloun ( ar, الطاهر بن جلون; born in Fes, Morocco, 1 December 1944) is a Moroccan writer. All of his work is written in French although his first language is Darija. He became known for his 1985 novel ''L’Enfant de Sable'' (''The Sand Child''). He now lives in Paris, France, and continues to write. He has been nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Early life and career Tahar Ben Jelloun was born in Morocco in December 1944. As a child, he attended an Arabic-French bilingual elementary school. He then studied in the Lycée Regnault in Tangier, Morocco, until he was 18 years old. He studied philosophy at Mohammed V University in Rabat. ''The Sand Child'' (''l'Enfant de sable'') is a 1985 novel by Moroccan author Tahar Ben Jelloun. First published in France, the novel's message expresses on multiple levels ideas about the post-colonial condition of Morocco while also emphasising themes relating to the construction of individual identities. It can also be seen as a critique of "traditional" Islamic and Moroccan morals, with specific reference to the position of women. There are strong elements of magical realism in the novel. Sens () is a commune in the Yonne department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in north-central France, 120 km from Paris. Joseph Joubert (; 6 May 1754 in Montignac, Périgord – 4 May 1824 in Paris) was a French moralist and essayist, remembered today largely for his ''Pensées'' (''Thoughts''), which were published posthumously. Biography From the age of fourteen Joubert attended a religious college in Toulouse, where he later taught until 1776. In 1778 he went to Paris where he met D'Alembert and Diderot, amongst others, and later became a friend of a young writer and diplomat, Chateaubriand. He alternated between living in Paris with his friends and life in the privacy of the countryside in Villeneuve-sur-Yonne. He was appointed inspector-general of universities under Napoleon.
