The ''Odes'' ( la, Carmina) are a collection in four books of Latin lyric poems by Horace. The Horatian ode format and style has been emulated since by other poets. Books 1 to 3 were published in 23 BC. A fourth book, consisting of 15 poems, was published in 13 BC. The ''Odes'' were developed as a conscious imitation of the short lyric poetry of Greek originals – Pindar, Sappho and Alcaeus are some of Horace's models. His genius lay in applying these older forms to the social life of Rome in the age of Augustus. Marimekko
Marimekko Oyj is a Finnish textiles, clothing, and home furnishings company founded by Viljo and Armi Ratia in Helsinki in 1951. Marimekko made important contributions to fashion in the 1960s. It is particularly noted for its brightly colored printed fabrics and simple styles, used both in women's garments and in home furnishings. Two designers in particular, Vuokko Nurmesniemi, with bold stripes, and Maija Isola, with large simple flowered prints such as the ''Unikko'' poppy, created hundreds of distinctive patterns and helped to make Marimekko a household name across the world. Jaya Pratomo Ibrahim (17 April 1948 – 5 May 2015) was an Indonesian interior designer best known for his works in hospitality design. A protégé of British actress-turned-designer Anouska Hempel, his works are characterised by a trademark colour-coded symmetrical design. Often described to be calming and tranquil, amongst his most celebrated works are the interiors for The Legian in Bali and The Setai in Miami. The Kwee family is a Singaporean family that owns the Pontiac Land Group, a privately held luxury real estate developer and hotel owner based in Singapore. The Kwee brothers Kwee Liong Keng, Kwee Liong Tek, Kwee Liong Seen and Kwee Liong Phing collectively run the group. Capitol Centre, Singapore
The Capitol Centre was a building formerly located near the Capitol Theatre in Singapore. It was first built as a temporary resettlement centre in 1976, a parking station in 1985, a design centre in 1992, and back to a retail centre in 1995. The centre was demolished in 2012 under Capitol Singapore redevelopment project. History Before the establishment of the Capitol Shopping Centre, a military social club known as Union Jack Club was open in 1924 for British sailors and servicemen on the other end of the area, which will later became a large open-air car park for the Capitol Theatre's patrons in 1930. By the 1950s, the car park was converted into a bus terminus, which make it a popular place for locals due to its accessibility to the theatre.
