Campeonato Nacional De Boxeo Playa Girón
The Campeonato Nacional de Boxeo Playa Girón or Torneo Playa Girón is the yearly Cuban amateur boxing championship. A group of boxers represent each Cuban province, with the winner in each weight class being declared the national champion. The province whose boxers obtain the best results wins the tournament as well.. The first edition took place in March of 1962. Currently, the tournament is held every December and it is recognized by AIBA. Orlando Martínez (September 2, 1944 – September 22, 2021Fallece primer monarca olímpico del boxeo cubano
) was a Cuban bantamweight boxing, boxer, who won the gold medal at the Boxing at the 1972 Summer Olympics, 1972 Summer Olympics. Three years later he captured the gold at the Boxing at the 1975 Pan American Games, 1975 Pan American Games. Orlando was awarded a hotly disputed 3–2 split decision over Great Britain's George Turpin in the 1972 Munich Olympics semifinal before coasting to a comfortable points win over future professional world bantamweight champion Alfonso Zamora in the final to win the division's gold medal.

Erislandy Savón Cotilla (born July 21, 1990) is a Cuban heavyweight amateur boxer. He won the 91 kg/201 lbs title at the 2008 Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships, the 2009 Pan American Championships at Super Heavyweight and also the AIBA World Boxing Championships 2015 and 2017 in Heavyweight. Maikro Romero (born December 9, 1972) is a Cuban boxer, who won the gold medal in the Men's Flyweight (– 51 kg) category at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Later he changed weight class to Light Flyweight (– 48 kg) and won the 1997 World Amateur Boxing Championships. Emilio Correa (boxer Born 1953)
Emilio Correa (born May 21, 1953) is a Cuban former amateur boxer who won welterweight gold at the Olympics 1972. He is not to be confused with his middleweight namesake, who is actually his son. Inspired by his compatriots Roberto Caminero "Chocolatico" Pérez, Enrique Regüeiferos, Félix Betancourt and Rolando Garbey who also hail from Santiago de Cuba, he started boxing in 1966. At the PanAm Games in Cali, Colombia (1971) he won gold against American Larry Carlisle, but it was not until he beat Betancourt at the national championships in 1972 that he was able to secure his ticket to the Olympics.
