Maikro Romero
Maikro Romero (born December 9, 1972) is a Cuban boxer, who won the gold medal in the Men's Flyweight (– 51 kg) category at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Later he changed weight class to Light Flyweight (– 48 kg) and won the 1997 World Amateur Boxing Championships. Trying to defend his title in 1999, he lost to Brian Viloria in the final and won a silver medal. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney he won a bronze medal together with Kim Un-Chol of North Korea. Light Flyweight
Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. The World Boxing Council (WBC) decided to resurrect this division in the 1970s. The first champion in this division was Franco Udella, who won the WBC title in 1975. Brahim Asloum ( ar, إبراهيم اسلوم, born 31 January 1979 in Bourgoin-Jallieu, Isère) is a French boxer. He won the Light Flyweight Gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics. José Luís Varela Bustamente (born September 27, 1978) is a Venezuelan professional boxer who has challenged four times for a world mini flyweight championship; the WBO title in 2006, and both the WBA and IBF (twice) titles in 2008.
