Camilo Jacob
Camilo Jacob y Soledad (1856 - January 4, 1897) was a Bicolano people, Bicolano hero, martyr and revolutionary. He was also known as one of the 11 among the Fifteen Martyrs of Bicol who were executed in Bagumbayan (Luneta), now Rizal Park, by Spanish authorities at the end of 19th century during the Philippine revolution. Life Being a native, he grew up and was raised in Polangui, Albay, Polangui, in the province of Albay. At the time he was implicated, he was already pursuing a career as a successful professional, and commercial photographer, thereby maintaining his photographic studio at Nueva Cáceres, Nueva Caceres, now Naga City, Camarines Sur, Naga City. Polangui, officially the Municipality of Polangui ( bcl, Banwaan kan Polangui; tl, Bayan ng Polangui), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Albay, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of people. Etymology The origin of the name ''Polangui'' has many versions. The foremost and seemingly more accepted version is, "that of a giant robust tree which existed majestically in the early municipal settlement". The natives of the settlement called the "Oyangue", which also served as the early landmark of the area whereby new settlers looked upon in their wandering. Similarly, the early Spanish frontier settlers found this tree and it became their famous settlement landmark. Bicolano People
The Bicolano people or the Bikolanos ( Bikol: ''Mga Bikolnon'') are the fourth-largest Filipino ethnolinguistic group. Males are usually referred to as ''Bicolano'', and ''Bicolana'' is used for females. Their native region is commonly referred to as Bicolandia, which comprises the entirety of the Bicol Peninsula and neighboring minor islands, all in the southeast portion of Luzon. Nueva Cáceres
Nueva Cáceres, officially the City of Nueva Cáceres ( es, Ciudad de Nueva Cáceres), was a colonial Spanish city in the Philippines. Established by Captain Pedro de Sanchez in 1575, the city was named in honor of Governor-General Francisco de Sande who was a native of Cáceres, Spain. In 1595, a papal bull coming from the Vatican City created the See of Cáceres under the Archdiocese of Manila. Nueva Cáceres was considered the center of economy and industry in the Bicol Region, and the city was made capital of the province of Camarines.
