Calvert Elementary School
Lincoln Public Schools was founded in 1923, and is the second largest public school district in the U.S. state of Nebraska, located in the heart of the Great Plains. The school district of over 40,000 students is home to more than 60 schools and programs. The current superintendent is Dr. Paul Gausman, who joined LPS on July 1, 2022. He previously was the superintendent for Sioux City Community School District for fourteen years. Dr. Gausman holds degrees from the University of St. Thomas (Texas), University of St. Thomas, the University of Sioux Falls, the University of Nebraska Omaha, University of Nebraska-Omaha, and from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Cheney, Nebraska
Cheney is an unincorporated community in Lancaster County, Nebraska, United States. History In 1867, the Midland Pacific Railroad was established in Nebraska City. Midland Pacific began to build a line to Lincoln the following year, passing through the land owned by Mr. Cheney. A station was created on his land in 1871, named Cheney's Station. The village of Cheney was platted in 1874, a triangular map along the railroad. The first school was built in 1874 and a post office was established at Cheney in 1876. Cheney has played host to a lumberyard, a grocery store, three churches, a bank, a hardware store, a grain elevator, a general store, and a dance hall through the years, despite never growing past a population of 49. Lincoln Southeast High School is a public government education school located in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Lincoln Public Schools school district. Lincoln Southeast High School has the highest accreditation from the Nebraska Department of Education. Lincoln Northeast High School is a public high school in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Lincoln Public Schools district and was established in 1941 when three rival schools (Bethany, Havelock and Jackson) were combined into one. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and has been rated "AA" by the Nebraska Department of Education since 1943. Mascot The school's athletic teams are known as the Rockets. The name was originally taken from the Rock Island Rocket, a passenger train that once passed through northeast Lincoln. Lincoln North Star High School (LNS or North Star) is a public secondary school located in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. It opened its doors in 2003 to 1,150 students, and as of 2021–2022 has approximately 2250 students. North Star operates on a traditional seven-period day schedule, sometimes with eight periods for those who choose it.
