Sakae, Nagoya
is an area in Naka-ku, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. It refers to the areas around Sakae intersection, Sakae Station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway and Sakae Station on the Meitetsu Seto Line. Sakae is in the heart of Nagoya and is, along with Nagoya Station, one of Nagoya's main commercial districts. Overview The Sakae district is formed around the Sakae intersection ''Otsu-dori'' going north–south and ''Hirokōji-dori'' going east–west. It is the main shopping district of Nagoya, along with Nagoya Station and its immediate vicinity. Parallel to Otsu-dori is Hisaya-Ōdori; this road runs from Yaba-cho to Sakae except for Sotobori-dori, which is maintained as Hisaya Ōdori Park. Popular events are held in this park on the weekend. Nagoya Station
is a major railway station in Nakamura-ku, Nagoya, Japan. It is one of the world's largest train stations by floor area (410,000 m2), and houses the headquarters of the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). Much of this space is located in the JR Central Towers atop the station, as well as in underground concourses. The current station complex was completed on December 20, 1999. is an underground metro station located in Naka-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, operated by the Nagoya Municipal Subway. Meijō Line
The is a subway line forming part of the Nagoya Municipal Subway system in Nagoya, Japan, operated by Transportation Bureau City of Nagoya. It is a loop line that runs from Kanayama, via Sakae, Ōzone, Nagoya Daigaku, and back to Kanayama, all within Nagoya. The Meijō Line color on maps is wisteria purple. Its stations are numbered with the prefix "M". Officially, the line consists of , the western part, and , the eastern part. All the stations accept manaca, a rechargeable contactless smart card. This is the second loop subway line built in Japan, after Toei Ōedo Line. History In 1876, Ichizaemon Morimura VI and his brother Toyo founded Morimura Gumi with the intent of establishing overseas trading by a Japanese company.
