Melodi Grand Prix Junior
Melodi Grand Prix Junior, also spelled as MGPjr, is a Norwegian television song competition for aspiring singers between the ages of 8 and 15. The competing songs are written by the participants themselves and are sung primarily in Norwegian, and on several occasions, there were songs in Northern Sami, another language of Norway. History The idea was taken from the Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio, who launched a song contest for aspiring singers aged 8 to 15 in spring 2000. The format was a success and caught the attention of Norway and Sweden in 2002. From 2003 to 2005, the contest used to select the Norwegian entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). In 2006 Norway withdrew from the contest to participate in Melodi Grand Prix Nordic and the contest used to select the entry for MGP Nordic until 2009. Norwegian Language
Norwegian ( no, norsk, links=no ) is a North Germanic language spoken mainly in Norway, where it is an official language. Along with Swedish and Danish, Norwegian forms a dialect continuum of more or less mutually intelligible local and regional varieties; some Norwegian and Swedish dialects, in particular, are very close. Tooji
Touraj Keshtkar ( fa, تورج کشتکار; born 26 May 1987), known professionally as Tooji, is a Norwegian singer, painter, model and television host. He represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan and finished 26th (last) in the final. Beginning with his single "Cocktail", he also started using the kanji characters () in his artistic identity. Career Tooji Keshtkar was born in Shiraz, Iran, and moved to Norway when he was one year old. At the age of 16, he started modelling. Afterwards, he started working on MTV Norway where he presented "Super Saturday" and "Tooji's Top 10". He was also educated as a social worker and has worked in asylum reception centres. He now works as a child protection consultant in the department of after-care. Celine Helgemo
Celine Solemsløkk Helgemo (born 31 August 1995) is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She won a Norwegian song competition for kids MGPjr 2007 with her song "Bæstevænna" (translated as ''best friends'') when she was 12 years old, and has released a platinum-certified album. Helgemo comes from Orkdal, near Trondheim. She goes to a local dance school, takes singing lessons and has performed in local plays with her friend. Helgemo likes to compose songs, and her winning song in MGP Nordic is about her best friend Astrid Smeplass. She represented Norway in MGP Nordic 2007 after winning the local Norwegian qualifying competition '' Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2007'' Helgemo also released an album of original songs just before the MGP Nordic final. The Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2007 was Norway's sixth national Melodi Grand Prix Junior for young singers aged 8 to 15. It was held on June 2, 2007, in Oslo Spektrum, Oslo, Norway and broadcast live presented by Stian Barsnes Simonsen. Nine participants participated and the contest was won by 11-year-old Celine Helgemo with her song ''Bæstevænna'' (Bestfriends). She received the award out of the hands of Ole Runar, who won the 2006 contest with his song "Fotball e supert". The first and second-place winners, Celine and the duo Martin & Johannes, were Norway's participants in MGP Nordic 2007 with additional contestants from Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. MGP Nordic 2006
The 2nd MGP Nordic was held in Stockholm, Sweden in November 2006. This was the first time in four years that MGP Nordic took place after Denmark, Swedish broadcaster SVT, and Norway pulled out of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest that same year as a protest against the excess pressure put on the singers. Sweden did, however, compete at Junior Eurovision with different contestants and TV4 as the broadcaster from 2006 to 2009 despite withdrawing in 2008. Organization Following all three countries' withdrawal from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, MGP Nordic was revived after a three-year hiatus but with minor changes. The Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2006 is Norway's fifth national ''Melodi Grand Prix Junior'' for singers ages 8 to 15 years old. It was held on April 21, 2006, in Oslo Spektrum, Oslo, Norway. It was broadcast live for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes. The hosts were Stian Barsnes Simonsen and Nadia Hasnaoui. A total of 10 children participated. The contest was won by 10-year-old Ole Runar Gillebo with his song ''Fotball e supert'' (Football is super). Ole won the public vote by a landslide and received the trophy from Malin Reitan, who won the 2005 contest. As the winners of Norway's national competition, Ole, Sondre, and Drops went on to compete in MGP Nordic 2006, with participants from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Malin Reitan
Malin (born Malin Reitan; 8 August 1995 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian singer. She finished 3rd in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with her song "''Sommer og skolefri''". She is also a recording artist with several released albums. Malin sings in her regional dialect. Biography Malin's career as a singer started when she was nine years old. She auditioned for the Norwegian selection for JESC 2005, the Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2005, and she was selected to sing among ten contestants in the final show. Her song was too short though, so she had to write one more verse for it on the way home from the audition. After surprising herself by winning MGP Jr by a landslide, she went on a summer concert tour, singing at festivals and on television shows. In November, she performed in the JESC 2005 in Hasselt, Belgium and finished 3rd, the best position for Norway so far. Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the second edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged eight to fifteen. It was held on 20 November 2004, in Håkons Hall, Lillehammer, Norway and lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. It was presented by Stian Barsnes Simonsen and Nadia Hasnaoui, broadcast in twenty countries and viewed by 100 million people. Eighteen countries participated, and participated for the first time. MGP Nordic 2002
MGP Nordic 2002 was the first annual MGP Nordic, a song competition eligible to singers from Denmark, Norway and Sweden between the ages of 8 and 15. It took place on 27 April 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark and was hosted by Camilla Ottesen, Stian Barsnes Simonsen and Josefin Sundström. The winner was then 12-year-old Razz from Denmark with his song "Kickflipper". Creation of the MGP Nordic The contest originated in 2000 when Denmark's Radio held a song contest for Danish children that year and in 2001. The idea was extended to a Scandinavian song competition in 2002, MGP Nordic, with Denmark, Norway and Sweden as participants.
