Denmark–Kosovo Relations
Denmark–Kosovo relations are foreign relations between Denmark and Kosovo. Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008 and Denmark recognized it on 21 February 2008. Ambassador of Denmark to Kosovo, subordinate to the embassy in Vienna, Austria from 6 March 2008. Military Denmark contributed up to 308 soldiers to the NATO-led Kosovo Force. In November 2010, a 152-member unit remained in the force. Prison lease Denmark and Kosovo has signed an agreement for Denmark to rent 300 prison cells in Kosovo, which Denmark plans to use for prison sentenced migrants. Kosovo
Kosovo ( sq, Kosova or ; sr-Cyrl, Косово ), officially the Republic of Kosovo ( sq, Republika e Kosovës, links=no; sr, Република Косово, Republika Kosovo, links=no), is a partially recognised state in Southeast Europe. 2008 Kosovo Declaration Of Independence
The 2008 Kosovo declaration of independence, which proclaimed the Republic of Kosovo to be a state independent from Serbia, was adopted at a meeting held on 17 February 2008 by 109 out of the 120 members of the Assembly of Kosovo, including the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, and by the President of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu (who was not a member of the Assembly). It was the second declaration of independence by Kosovo's Albanian-majority political institutions; the first was proclaimed on 7 September 1990. The legality of the declaration has been disputed. Serbia sought international validation and support for its stance that the declaration was illegal, and in October 2008 requested an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice. The Kosovo Force (KFOR) is a North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO-led international NATO peacekeeping, peacekeeping force in Kosovo.
