Czesław Siekierski
Czesław Adam Siekierski (born 8 October 1952) is a Polish politician who was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), between 2004 and 2019, for the Lesser Poland Voivodship & Swietokrzyskie Voivodship with the Polish People's Party, part of the European People's Party. On 7 July 2014, Czesław Siekierski was elected Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. Siekierski is a member of the Conference of Committee Chairs and Delegation for relations with Canada and a substitute for the Committee on Budgetary Control and Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland () was formed in October 1999 from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Economy of Poland; the ministry can trace its history to 1944. 2004 European Parliament Election In Poland
Elections to the European Parliament were held in Poland on 13 June 2004 as part of the wider 2004 European Parliament election. They were the first European Parliament elections held in Poland after the country's accession to the European Union in May 2004. Poland was allotted 54 members of the European Parliament. 20.87% of eligible citizens voted; of these, 97.33% of the votes cast were valid. The elections resulted in a heavy defeat for the governing Alliance of the Democratic Left and Labor Union parties, although the very low turnout makes a direct comparison with national election results difficult. As expected the most successful party was the Civic Platform. Second place was taken by the strongly anti-EU League of Polish Families. The radical populist Self-Defence of the Republic of Poland, which some opinion polls had predicted would come second, came fourth after the Law and Justice party.
