Czech Mathematical Society
The Czech Mathematical Society ( cs, Česká matematická společnost, CMS) is an association of researchers, teachers, professionals and other persons interested in mathematics. Formally, the CMS is one of the four sections (subsidiary associations) of the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists (JČMF). Membership in the CMS is therefore conditional on membership in JČMF. It was founded in 1972 originally under the name Mathematical Research Section. In 2004 it was renamed to its current name. The CMS is managed by a twelve-member Executive Committee, which is elected by the members of the society. The Executive Committee elects the President of the CMS from among its members. The current President (2022–2026) is Luboš Pick. Prague
Prague ( ; cs, Praha ; german: Prag, ; la, Praga) is the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic, and the historical capital of Bohemia. Czech Republic
The Czech Republic, or simply Czechia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Historically known as Bohemia, it is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the southeast. The Czech Republic has a hilly landscape that covers an area of with a mostly temperate continental and oceanic climate. The European Mathematical Society (EMS) is a European organization dedicated to the development of mathematics in Europe. Its members are different mathematical societies in Europe, academic institutions and individual mathematicians. The current president is Volker Mehrmann, professor at the Institute for Mathematics at the Technical University of Berlin. Union Of Czech Mathematicians And Physicists
The Union of Czech mathematicians and physicists ( cs, Jednota českých matematiků a fyziků, JČMF) is one of the oldest learned societies in Czech lands existing to this day. It was founded in 1862 as the Association for free lectures in mathematics and physics (Union of Czech mathematicians). From the beginning, its goal was improvement of teaching physics and mathematics at schools on all levels and of all types and further support and promote the development of those sciences. As a consequence of patriotic efforts, the Association was enlarged in 1869 into the Union of Czech mathematicians and physicists. Members of the Union were largely teachers at high schools and post-secondary learning institutes, and further professors at universities and scientists. International Council For Industrial And Applied Mathematics
The International Council for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM) is an organisation for professional applied mathematics societies and related organisations. The current (2020) President is Ya-xiang Yuan. History Until 1999 the Council was known as the Committee for International Conferences on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CICIAM).
