Cumming Metro Station
Cumming is an underground metro station on the Line 5 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is located underneath Catedral street in the commune of Santiago, between metro stations Quinta Normal and Santa Ana. The station opened on March 31, 2004, along with Quinta Normal station. A ghost station, ''Libertad'', lies between Quinta Normal and Cumming station. The station is located in the heart of Barrio Brasil, a lively neighborhood known for its cultural scene, near the Brasil campus of the Academy of Christian Humanism University, the Alberto Hurtado University and the Alonso de Ercilla Institute. At the entrance to the station lies the Iglesia de los Capuchinos, a church built in the Neoclassic Greco-Roman style. The station has disability access. The Santiago Metro ( es, Metro de Santiago) is a rapid transit system serving the city of Santiago, the capital of Chile. It currently consists of seven lines (numbered 1-6 and 4A), 136 stations, and of revenue route. The system is managed by the state-owned Metro S.A. and is the first and only rapid transit system in the country. The Santiago Metro carries around 2.5 million passengers daily. This figure represents an increase of more than a million passengers per day compared to 2007, when the ambitious Transantiago project was launched, in which the metro plays an important role in the public transport system serving the city. Santa Ana Metro Station
Santa Ana is a transfer station between Line 2 and Line 5 of the Santiago Metro. It was initially a single-line station on Line 2, opened on 25 July 1986 as part of the extension of the line from Los Héroes to Puente Cal y Canto. Subsequently in 1998, the station began to be adapted to become a transfer station, as a part of the extension of Line 5 from Baquedano metro station to Santa Ana station, in which the New Austrian Tunnelling method was used. The Line 5 station was opened on 3 March 2000. The line was extended to Quinta Normal on 31 March 2004. The older portion of the station occupies part of the central reservation of the Autopista Central, which is sunken. Chilean Civil War Of 1891
The Chilean Civil War of 1891 (also known as Revolution of 1891) was a civil war in Chile fought between forces supporting Congress and forces supporting the President, José Manuel Balmaceda from 16 January 1891 to 18 September 1891. The war saw a confrontation between the Chilean Army and the Chilean Navy, siding with the president and the congress, respectively. This conflict ended with the defeat of the Chilean Army and the presidential forces and President Balmaceda committing suicide as a consequence. In Chilean historiography the war marks the end of the Liberal Republic and the beginning of the Parliamentary Era. Shotcrete, gunite (), or sprayed concrete is concrete or mortar conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface, as a construction technique, first used in 1907 invented by Carl Akeley. It is typically reinforced by conventional steel rods, steel mesh, or fibers. Shotcrete is usually an all-inclusive term for both the wet-mix and dry-mix versions invented by Akeley.
