Csaba Sógor
Csaba Sógor (born 12 May 1964) is a Romanian politician and Member of the European Parliament, representing the Hungarian minority. He is also the member of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania. Currently Sógor is the candidate for the Member of the European Parliament on behalf of the European People's Party (EPP). Besides Hungarian and Romanian, he is fluent in English, German and understands French. Education He attended Cluj University from 1983 to 1988, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Theology. Sógor also holds master's degrees in Theology from the Universities of Zurich and Basel. Professional career He began his political career in 1990 as a member of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania. Since 1995, he has been a member of the Union Representatives. Székelys
The Székelys (, Székely runes: 𐳥𐳋𐳓𐳉𐳗), also referred to as Szeklers,; ro, secui; german: Szekler; la, Siculi; sr, Секељи, Sekelji; sk, Sikuli are a Hungarian subgroup living mostly in the Székely Land in Romania. A significant population descending from the Székelys of Bukovina lives in Tolna and Baranya counties in Hungary and certain districts of Vojvodina, Serbia. In the Middle Ages, the Székelys played a role in the defense of the Kingdom of Hungary against the Ottomans in their posture as guards of the eastern border. With the Treaty of Trianon of 1920, Transylvania (including the Székely Land) became part of Romania, and the Székely population was a target of Romanianization efforts. Ciceu
Ciceu ( hu, Csíkcsicsó , or colloquially ) is a commune in Romania, located in Harghita County. It lies in the Székely Land, an ethno-cultural region in eastern Transylvania. The commune is composed of two villages: *Ciaracio / Csaracsó *Ciceu / Csíkcsicsó History The remains of its small castle can be seen on a ridge west of the village which was probably built further to a royal decree after the Mongol invasion of 1241-42. Its history is not known. According to the local tradition, the friars of the Csíksomlyó Franciscan Monastery had lived in the castle before their monastery was built.
