The Crystal Wing Awards ( sk, Krištáľové krídlo) are annual awards that recognise personal accomplishments in the areas of social, cultural, economic and public life. The 20th edition of the awards, conceived by Mária Vaškovičová, was held in January 2017. Ondrej Vrábel (philanthropist)
Ondrej Vrábel (born 19 October 2001) is a Slovak philanthropist, programmer, co-founder of civic association Mladí and entrepreneur who is known for his software for children with special needs and disabilities. Biography Ondrej Vrábel grew up in Záhorí. His mother's cousin had a cerebral palsy, which has been his motivation for developing learning tools for people with special needs. He learned to code through tutorials on the Web. In 2016, Vrábel was awarded Crystal Wing Award in Philanthropy for his free software for children with special needs - Pinf Hry (Pinf Games) - and became the youngest recipient of this award (14 years old). Later in 2018, he was listed as one of Forbes 30 Under 30 in Slovakia for his activities. Matej Tóth
Matej Tóth (; born 10 February 1983) is a Slovak race walker. He is a former Olympic champion in the 50 km walk. Career Toth won the gold medal in the 50 km walk at the 2010 IAAF World Race Walking Cup, and at the 2015 World Championships, taking Slovakia's first ever gold at the championships. He finished first at the 2016 Olympic Games in 50 km walk, winning the first Slovak Olympic medal in athletics and also being the first Slovak gold medalist in a Summer sport other than canoe slalom. He was the 2016 Slovak Athlete of the Year. In 2018, he won silver medal in the men's 50 kilometres walk at the 2018 European Athletics Championships held in Berlin, Germany. In 2019, he competed in the men's 50 kilometres walk at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar. He did not finish his race. Ladislav Škantár (born 11 February 1983) is a retired Slovak slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1998 to 2018, along with his cousin Peter Škantár in the C2 class. They retired from canoe slalom in 2018 after the C2 event was discontinued and subsequently switched to wildwater canoeing. They announced retirement from wildwater canoeing during the 2021 World Championships in their hometown Bratislava where they didn't start due to Ladislav's injury. Etela Farkašová
Etela Farkašová (; born 5 October 1943) is a Slovak writer and philosopher. Biography Etela Farkašová was born on 5 October 1943 in Levoča. She studied Mathematics and Physics at the University of Trnava. Following her graduation, she worked as a high school teacher. At the same time, she studied Philosophy and Sociology at the Comenius University, graduating in 1972. Since then, she has lectured at the Department of Philosophy of the Comenius University. She retired in 2010, but as of 2023 she is still active as an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy as well as a researcher of the Center for Gender Studies at the university. She occasionally translates from German and English. Dalibor Karvay
Dalibor Karvay is a Slovak violinist and pedagogue at Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien. Biography Karvay was born on 24 July 1985 in Vrútky, Slovakia. At the age of three, he started playing the violin under the guidance of his father. During his studies at the Primary Art School in Vrútky, he made several recordings for the Slovak Radio in Bratislava. After the special study, under the guidance of professor Bohumil Urban, he graduated at the Žilina Conservatoire and from 1999 he studied at the Vienna at the Conservatoire in the class of the renowned professor Boris Kuschnir. Celeste Rizvana Buckingham (born 3 May 1995) is a Slovak singer and songwriter. Buckingham began her career in 2011, after finishing as a finalist on the second season of ''Česko Slovenská SuperStar'', the joint Czech-Slovak version of ''Idol''. Ivan Pavle (born March 8, 1955, Galanta) is a Demographics of Slovakia, Slovakian painter. Life Pavle was born on March 8, 1955, in Galanta, Slovakia, to Matej Pavle and Alžbeta Pavleová. He grew up in Prievidza with two brothers, Matej and Slavomír. He completed primary school in Prievidza in 1970. Zuzana Mauréry
Zuzana Mauréry (born 23 September 1968) is a Slovak actress working in film, television, and on stage, as well as a musical singer. A six-time nominee for national movie awards and a two-time winner of the Sun in a Net Awards, she lives in her hometown of Bratislava.
