Cristina Aicardi
Christina Irene Aicardi Cagigao (born 14 January 1986) is a Peruvian badminton player. She competed at the 2007 and 2011 Pan American Games. In 2008, she won the gold medal at the Pan Am Championships in the women doubles partnered with Claudia Rivero. She played at the 2005 World Badminton Championships in Anaheim. In the women's singles event she lost in the first round to Elena Nozdran of Ukraine. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Michelle Li (badminton)
Michelle Li (born November 3, 1991) is a Canadian badminton player from Markham, Ontario. Li is the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion and the first Canadian to win an individual gold medal in women's singles badminton at the Commonwealth Games. She has won gold in both singles and doubles at the Pan American Games, and won the singles and team event titles from the Pan American Badminton Championships. As a competitor for Ontario, Li also won singles, doubles, and mixed team titles at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. Alexandra Bruce (badminton)
Mary Alexandra "Alex" Bruce (born May 27, 1990) is a Canadian badminton player from Toronto, Ontario. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's doubles event with partner Michelle Li. Early career She started playing badminton at aged 8. Her parents were members of a badminton club that put on clinics for kids. She won silver in doubles at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games. Bruce studied Engineering and played Varsity Badminton for the University of Western Ontario, where she was named OUA Female Rookie of the Year in 2008. At the 2009 Canadian university and college national championships, she won two gold medals in doubles play, and a silver medal in women's singles. Elena Ivanivna Nozdran ( ua, Олена Іванівна Ноздрань; born 20 July 1975) is a badminton player from Ukraine. She played at the 2005 World Badminton Championships in Anaheim. In the women's singles event she reached the second round before losing to Pi Hongyan of France. Nozdran also play in the German leagues, then she moved to Luxembourg and work as a badminton coach.
