Crandell Park
Crandell Park is a public park in Eaton County, Michigan covering about . The park is located about 2 miles east of Charlotte. The entrance to the park is off Michigan highway M-50. It is Eaton County's newest park, being established in 2017. Crandell Lake (located within the park) is Eaton County's largest lake at in size. Crandell Park was established in 2017, after Eaton County purchased the land for US$3.9 million in 2016 from a local resident named Randy Crandell. The transaction was made possible due to a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) grant. The grant covered 75% of the cost, and Crandell donated the remaining 25%. Facilities The park is available to the public for recreational use. The walking trail that goes around the lake is a just under long. Charlotte, Michigan
Charlotte ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 9,074. It is the county seat of Eaton County. Charlotte is in the central portion of the county, on the boundary between Eaton Township and Carmel Township, though politically independent of both. Interstate 69 serves the city, and connects it to the state capital of Lansing. It is located 21.5 miles (34.6 kilometers) from downtown Lansing. History In 1832, George Barnes purchased the land that would become Charlotte from the U.S. Government. Barnes in turn sold the land to Edmond B. M-50 (Michigan Highway)
M-50 is a state trunkline highway in the US state of Michigan. Although designated as an east–west highway, it is nearly a diagonal northwest–southeast route. The western terminus is at exit 52 along Interstate 96 (I-96) near Alto a few miles east of the metro Grand Rapids area, and its eastern terminus is in downtown Monroe at US Highway 24 (US 24, Telegraph Road). In between the trunkline runs through seven counties of the southern part of the Lower Peninsula mostly through rural farm fields and small communities. The highway also runs through downtown Jackson to connect between two freeway sections of US 127. In the Irish Hills area of the state southeast of Jackson, M-50 runs next to Michigan International Speedway. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is the agency of the state of Michigan charged with maintaining natural resources such as state parks, state forests, and recreation areas.
