John Eaton (politician)
John Henry Eaton (June 18, 1790November 17, 1856) was an American politician and ambassador from Tennessee who served as U.S. Senator and as U.S. Secretary of War in the administration of Andrew Jackson. He was 28 years, 4 months, and 29 days old when he entered the Senate, making him List of youngest members of the United States Congress, the youngest U.S. Senator in history. Eaton was a lawyer in Tennessee who became part of a network that supported the political campaigns of Andrew Jackson. He also served in the militia as a Major (United States), major, and during the War of 1812 became an aide to Jackson; Eaton served with Jackson in all his wartime campaigns and battles, including the Battle of New Orleans. Battle Creek River
The Battle Creek River (simply Battle Creek on federal maps) is a river in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a tributary of the Kalamazoo River, joining it at Battle Creek, Michigan; the Kalamazoo River empties into Lake Michigan. The river's drainage basin is approximately and covers northern Calhoun County, southern Eaton County, and southeastern Barry County in southwest Michigan. The headwaters of the Battle Creek River are at Duck Lake in Clarence Township in northeast Calhoun County, and the stream flows north to the city of Charlotte, then southwest through the village of Bellevue and empties into the Kalamazoo River at the city of Battle Creek. Barry County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 62,423. The county seat is Hastings. History Before the present era, the Michigan peninsula was long occupied by bands of the Potowatomi and Ojibwe of the Lake Superior Band of Chippewa Indians. Lake Interstate is a fishing lake located in Eaton County, Michigan. The lake got its name due to its close proximity to Interstate 69 - with the eastern shoreline being about from the interstate. Overview Lake Interstate is a "dock and shore" fishing lake located southwest of Lansing, the state's capital city. The lake features one fishing pier, on the southern section of the lake. Residents can fish from the pier, or from the shoreline. The lake is available for residents to use year round, and there is no fee charged to enter. Lake Delta
Lake Delta is a lake in Delta Township, Michigan, just a few miles southwest of the state's capitol of Lansing, in Eaton County. Running adjacent to the lake is Interstate 96 (I-96) to the west, and Interstate 69 to the northwest.
