Craigie is a northern suburb of Perth. Craigie was chosen as a suburb name in 1970 and honours an early councillor of the City of Wanneroo who did work in developing the City. Craigie is one of the four "Whitfords" suburbs that resulted from the State Government rezoning a large area of coastal land for development in 1969. The suburb once had a senior high school, Craigie Senior High School, which was opened in 1976 only to be closed again in 2003 following a decline in student enrolments. Beldon is a small suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup, to the north of Craigie. Etymology There are two possible origins for naming the suburb Beldon. The first possible origin is that it is named after A.W. Beldon who was an early landowner and surveyor of the Wanneroo area, active around 1838. The second possibility is that it is named after Arthur and Florence Beldon who ran Wanneroo School from 1945 until 1965. Woodvale is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup and the City of Wanneroo. At the 2016 census Woodvale had a population of 9,276. Woodvale is bounded to the south by Whitfords Avenue, to the west by the Mitchell Freeway, to the north by Ocean Reef Road and to the east by Wanneroo Road. Trappers Drive runs through Woodvale, from Whitfords Avenue to Ocean Reef Road. The area within and around Woodvale was primarily rural until the late 1970s. Kallaroo is one of the four ' Whitfords' suburbs in Perth that resulted from the Western Australian Government rezoning large areas of coastal land for development in 1969. Kallaroo was chosen as a suburb name in 1970 and is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘road to the water’. The suburb is home to one primary school, Springfield Primary School, which was named after the original housing estate. The school was established in 1972, with four demountable classrooms and 179 students. A permanent school was built for the 1973 educational year with six classrooms in the main building. Also in the construction was an administrative and library buildings. The new school oval was sand and limestone rocks for the first year and after many student injuries, a new grassed oval was ready for the 1974 educational year. Hillarys is a northern coastal suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, in the local government area of the City of Joondalup. It is part of the Whitfords precinct, and is located 21 km north-northwest of Perth's central business district via Mitchell Freeway and Hepburn Avenue. History Hillarys was named after an early settler, Bertram John Hillary (1895-1957), who had become blind in his right eye while fighting in Gallipoli during the First World War. He came to the area during the Great Depression while fishing for a living with his brother Harry, and built a boatshed on the beach in 1930. Subsequently, he expanded it to accommodate himself, his wife and four children. For many years, they were the only residents of what is now Hillarys, and the nearest store, at North Beach to the south, was a 5 km walk away.
