Hillarys is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based in Perth's northern suburbs. Politically, it is typically a safe Liberal seat but Caitlin Collins won it for the Labor Party for the first time at the 2021 election. Geography Hillarys is an outer northern suburban seat in Perth. It is bounded to the north by Ocean Reef Road, to the east by the Mitchell Freeway, to the west by the Indian Ocean and to the south by Hepburn Avenue. Caitlin Collins
Caitlin Mary Collins (born 22 July 1988) is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since the 2021 state election, representing Hillarys. Prior to her election, Collins taught politics and history at Scotch College, a private, all boys school in Swanbourne. Previously, she contested the 2017 state election in then-Premier Colin Barnett's seat of Cottesloe. As the Member for Hillarys Collins has worked hard to deliver real outcomes for local residents. Her key priorities include upgrading local primary and secondary schools, protecting the character of the area, improving road safety and increasing access to public transport. Kallaroo, Western Australia
Kallaroo is one of the four ' Whitfords' suburbs in Perth that resulted from the Western Australian Government rezoning large areas of coastal land for development in 1969. Kallaroo was chosen as a suburb name in 1970 and is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘road to the water’. The suburb is home to one primary school, Springfield Primary School, which was named after the original housing estate. The school was established in 1972, with four demountable classrooms and 179 students. A permanent school was built for the 1973 educational year with six classrooms in the main building. Also in the construction was an administrative and library buildings. The new school oval was sand and limestone rocks for the first year and after many student injuries, a new grassed oval was ready for the 1974 educational year. Peter Katsambanis
Peter Argyris Katsambanis (born 24 December 1965) is a former Australian politician. He was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council at the 2013 state election, representing the Liberal Party, taking his seat on 22 May 2013. He resigned in 2017 to successfully contest the Legislative Assembly seat of Hillarys. At the 2021 Western Australian state election, he was defeated by Labor's Caitlin Collins. He was previously a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Council, from 1996 to 2002. The Liberal Party of Australia (Western Australian Division), branded as Liberal Western Australia, is the division of the Liberal Party of Australia in Western Australia. Robert Frank Johnson (born 17 October 1943) is a former Australian politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1993 to 2017. He was elected as a member of the Liberal Party, and served as a minister in the government of Colin Barnett from 2008 to 2012, but resigned from the party in 2016 to sit as an independent. Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 14 December 1996 to elect all 57 members to the Legislative Assembly and all 34 members to the Legislative Council. The Liberal–National coalition government, led by Premier Richard Court, won a second term in office against the Labor Party, led by Opposition Leader Dr Geoff Gallop since 15 October 1996. Craigie is a northern suburb of Perth. Craigie was chosen as a suburb name in 1970 and honours an early councillor of the City of Wanneroo who did work in developing the City. Craigie is one of the four "Whitfords" suburbs that resulted from the State Government rezoning a large area of coastal land for development in 1969. Beldon, Western Australia
Beldon is a small suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup, to the north of Craigie. Etymology There are two possible origins for naming the suburb Beldon. The first possible origin is that it is named after A.W. Beldon who was an early landowner and surveyor of the Wanneroo area, active around 1838. The second possibility is that it is named after Arthur and Florence Beldon who ran Wanneroo School from 1945 until 1965.
