Coyhaique
Coyhaique (), also spelled Coihaique in Patagonia, is the Capital (political), capital List of cities in Chile, city of both the Coyhaique Province and the Aysén Region of Chile. Founded by settlers in 1929, it is a young city. Until the twentieth century, Chile showed little interest in exploiting the remote Aisén region. The Carretera Austral southern highway opened in the 1980s. Geography and climate The commune of Coyhaique spans an area of . It is surrounded by rivers (Simpson and Coyhaique) and by mountains. Coyhaique Province
Coyhaique Province ( es, Provincia de Coyhaique) is one of four provinces of the southern Chilean region of Aisen (XI). Its capital city is Coyhaique. It is the most populous of provinces in the Aysén Region. Teniente Vidal Airfield
Teniente Vidal Airport ( es, Aeródromo Teniente Vidal, ) is an airport serving Coyhaique, capital of the Aysén Region of Chile. The airport is southwest of Coyhaique. The runway has an additional of unpaved overrun on the northeast end. There is a mountain nearby to the southeast, and rising terrain nearby northwest. Carretera Austral
The Carretera Austral (CH-7, ''in English: Southern Way'') is the name given to Chile's Route 7. The highway runs south for about from Puerto Montt to Villa O'Higgins, passing through rural Patagonia. Carretera Austral provides road access to Chile's Aysén Region and southern parts of Los Lagos Region. These areas are sparsely populated and despite its length, Carretera Austral provides access to only about 100,000 people. The largest city along the entire road is Coyhaique with a population of 44,850 in 2002. Puerto Aysén
Puerto Aysén is a city of Chile located in the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region, above the head of Aisén Fjord in the country's extreme south. Puerto Aisén, which is the capital city of both the Aysén Province and the commune of Aisén is located from the Regional Capital of Coyhaique, and from the port of Puerto Chacabuco, main entry point to Puerto Aisén by sea. Puerto Montt (Mapuche: Meli Pulli) is a port city and commune in southern Chile, located at the northern end of the Reloncaví Sound in the Llanquihue Province, Los Lagos Region, 1,055 km to the south of the capital, Santiago.
